Suspension Spring Availability Issue C5 Tourer

Unread post by NAM »

Hi all - not been on for ages but wanted to ask for any help or direction for the following part issue.
I need a new suspension spring for the font near side on my C5 Tourer (2016). Local garage advised not to go down the generic route but to stick with genuine Citroen part.
That was back in January.
Citroen initially advised 7-10 days for the part and each week they give another date saying it is on back order. One time they advised the part was in France (that was a month ago), then the supply had reached 3 stars out of 5 (whatever that means).

I have logged a complaint/request with Citroen UK who keep telling me that my concern has been raised the highest level but can't give me a date.
I have tried asking for part availability anywhere across Europe (as I can't imagine that there isn't a spring anywhere in Europe).

Does anyone know how long this is likely to go on, if there a route to find out the true date and better still, the actual part number. I am happy to go down the generic route and have both sides changed but the garage is reluctant as they want to use genuine parts.

We can help if you need an original genuine part number, part diagram or factory build sheet and can't already find the info you need on the Forum. For this service, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.

If interested, links are below, then provide your vehicle's VIN in full, which will be masked automatically when you submit your post.
A response to your question by a Forum Admin requiring parts or specific vehicle information requires you

If you decide to upgrade, then at least you will have the part numbers for your specific X7 model (as they all differ according to model and engine) and can use this to source online yourself.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

There is recent topic on here for a Xsara Piccaso and generic front springs were put on. The car is now high at the front and not level. Trying copy springs may well be wasted money and time/labour costs. If using a garage they would not want to be responsible.

Thanks for replies. Paul - I can see why my local garage wants genuine parts. Its just the wait (8 weeks now) which is killing me!

Main dealers unloaded their parts stock to the smaller local Citroen independents as time moved on so maybe if you have one locally it could be worth asking there.
I know of one here who bought most of the older stock from the main dealer but it's a long way from you.

That's a good idea - many thanks Gibbo. Yes quite a way from me but if they have stock of what I need it is certainly worth thinking about.
