esp/asr fault

Unread post by cooper1973 »

evening everyone!!!
i am hoping someone can point me in right direction, i have a ds3 2015 1.6hdi couple of days ago i had heater resistor go so managed to get this going again at the same time i had a number plate light to replace as it was blown, i replaced this started veh checked light it was not working so i took bulb out again and a bit of tin foil dropped out, it appears to me the previous owner had replaced the blown bulb and wedged abit of foil in there as the bulb didnt fit snug by the looks of things, im guessing this has shorted something as now i have esp/asr fault with traction control light on. the number plate light is working and everything else seems to work ok. i have put new battery on car as the one that was on there was 10yrs old and my stop start has not worked for couple of years and still doesnt. i have checked fuses and can not see any blown. could this of spiked the alternator.

You need to have it diagnosed and then get us the fault codes to assist - it may be totally unrelated to the light issue.

I've updated my previous post to reflect P1536, but C1644 is not coming up as a valid code, so I would re-check that. In both cases though, the common denominator is the brake switch, which is the only component that gets physically used, so is prone to failure at some point. I suggest you start there first and get that replaced. Make sure you get the exact correct part.

c1644 from what I have read in another post is week battery which has now been replaced. I removed brake light switch and adjusted it and the warning has not come back as yet so hoping this may of been the issue I also cleaned the 2 5amp fuses on battery module as one was corroded not sure what these 2 are for but after doing this stop start has been working again.
