C5 X7 heated seats

Whilst working in the footwell of my car today I noticed that there is electric cabling attached to the bottom of the drivers seat.
My car is VTR+ trim so doesn't have electrically adjustable or heated seats.
Do they all come with the wiring pre-installed and just lack the relevant switches/ software not enabled?
Would there be any way to make heated seat work?

No, be careful here, there will be wiring for the seat airbags etc.....

You can't make heated seats that aren't heated. It's not a matter of the software, but that the seats have no heating elements, switches or specific wiring. They are not pre-wired, but are built specifically for the option.

Hi Marc,

I wasn't aware there were seat air bags?! Is this on all models?
I totally forgot that the front seats have pressure sensors in the bases.

I'm assuming this is your C5 X7 (I don't have this VIN) but yes, if you look at the sides of the front seats, you may see a plastic housing with the airbag logo or a cloth tag depending on your trim, but the VTR+ in common with all the X7s have at least 7 airbags, with an additional 2 outer rear seat airbags as optional extras, so up to 9 in total:

2 x Driver (Steering Wheel plus Knee)
1 x Front Passenger (Dash)
2 x Front seat side airbags
2 x Roof Curtain Airbags

Optional Extras 2 x Rear outer seat side Airbags

this is really interesting. I've never noticed these locations.
Mine is a Tourer.
Will have a closer inspection at some point.
