citroen c3 picasso petrol 2009

Unread post by bpdburgh »

I have a Citroen c3 picasso 2009 petrol. My car shows low oil level, i check the oil level and its fine, and there is no oil on the ground and cant see any oil, i am just wondering if it could be the oil sensor? anyone had the same issue, or ideas??

It could be a faulty sensor... I have seen that once low oil level has been triggered, it can take several (5?) engine starts before the warning goes away.

Citroen diagnostics will be able to indicate what the sensor is saying so worth doing to just to confirm or eliminate it...

When did this problem begin? Straight after an oil change or a way into the lifespan of the current oil?

If the latter, it'll be worth doing an oil change to see if that restores normal operation.

If you have to pay for a diagnostic it might cost more than just a new sensor. I would also check the dip stick is the right one, some cars have plastic tipped ones which can break and if this has happened the wrong one may have been put in. Do not put any more oil in though until the checks have been done or the level could end up too high.

Good call on the dipstick Paul, as they can break without it being obvious...

Pop a photo of the dipstick up and we'll soon be able to tell you...

As the car is under a warranty of sorts then the vendor should really attend to this. Does the service history indicate when the oil was last changed?

We need to see the other end of the dipstick too ;)

The seal you speak of is an O Ring...

Yes, given the area of the leak I'd agree...

A place near me in scottish borders said £600 - £700 another place about 20miles away £150, i think the first company thought it was a full head gaskit, but they said no its rocker gaskit coming from citroen, all though the garage is not a dealer or anything, bizzare, i would have taken it down to hebden bridge they are great but with christmas and new year traffic nope, Thanks

I had a C3 Pic 1.4 petrol. It did the same as yours with the oil. It'll sort itself out. Mine used to do it when parked at odd angles or after oil changes when it used to take 2 or 3 days sometimes to sort itself out. Just use the dipstick.
