Hi. Trying to mot Dispatch mk2 hdi 2.0 2012.
Has failed on emissions opacity 3.09m-¹ the pass limit is 0.51m-¹, and the inspector says the dpf has been removed which is a fail.

Edit------the pic shows a part described as a dpf online that my van has. so how can it be missing a dpf? should there be another? or is this thing the cat? this part on my van has a standard flange that the exhaust bolts to.
end of edit--------

Looking up dpf's for dispatch seems to bring up numerous choices from £200 to £600+. Ofcourse, s*ds law states it'll be the most expensive one.
Going to try and get second hand one..already looked up cleaning dpfs with fluid/jetwash.
Question is, could i get cheaper dpf and get someone to weld it in..they have pressure sensors I believe which would need to be compatible. Its confusing that there seems to be different shapes and types of new dpfs.
The other thing is, the cat currently on my van (see pic) might be a combined dpf/cat..but its clearly not working if it is.I'll try to add a pic of the cat currently fitted (added pics. they are screenshots of an identical cat online).
Someone appeared to have sawn thru one of the exhaust mounts (previous owner fitted a stainless steel exhaust), which caused the exhaust to tear the flange off the cat. I got it welded but I could see a mesh inside the cat i thought might be dpf.
Anyway, thanks in advance. I'll probably try to get pics of the gubbins thats been disconnected from the dpf.
cheers.

I understand the situation - and this unfortunately is how it affects owners down the line when idiots do this sort of thing.

You need to be careful - you can't go welding in filters. These have a special cement to hold the filter in place and yes, some have a 2 part cat and filter. There are multiple types depending on engine. If you need the correct part, please see below:

We can help if you need an original, genuine part number or part diagram, and can't already find the info you need on the Forum. For this service, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.

If interested, links are below, then provide your vehicle's VIN in full, which will be masked automatically when you submit your post.

You can at least make an informed decision on where you get the part from once you have the correct official part number for the DPF.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

thanks for the tips Marc. I will consider the parts service you mention, I cant afford a new dpf so I'll be contacting second hand parts in the immediate term.

on a facebook dispatch group i was advised there might be an Eolys fluid device as part of the dpf setup, so that might be on the list too.

The pic you posted above looks like the pre cat (no 10), The DPF is number 18.
There is also the main cat (no 17), is this missing too?
The other issue you may have is if the DPF has been removed 'properly' The ECU will also have been re mapped so it doesn't detect that the DPF is missing so that no warning lights/messages come up on the dash, this means if you re instate the exhaust back to the way it was the DPF wont re generate & will not be long before it becomes blocked.
As far as the additive system goes, this is normally left in situ when the DPF gets deleted so fingers crossed no one has touched it.

Hi Wheeler thanks for reply and your time. Very informative, yes looks like I have precat 10, though mine has a two bolt flange that a single silencer exhaust is bolted to. Possibly a modified flange had been welded to it when the bodger removed the dpf. thinking about it, thats going to make fitting another dpf /cat assembly tricky.

I guess i'll source a second hand one. on facebook someone suggested 30 litres of diesel, 2 litres of petrol, and some injector cleaner (dia something possibly) in the fuel tank greatly reduced the opacity test on a non dpf vehicle.
also need to find out cost of remapping.

thanks again for help!
