Hi,
I'm trying to extract fault codes from the ECU, and I build my own Fault code reader, using this diagram: http://cit-faq.de/faqforum/beitraege/codes/codes.htm
But I can't seem to find this green 2-pin connector anywhere.
After browsing this forum, I read in a thread, that apparently it's possible to do the same thing, using the Engine Management Light in the dashboard, by shortening 2 pins on the diagnostics-connector found by the fuse-box by the steering wheel.
Can anyone tell me what pins to shorten, and other usefull information about this?
Thanks in advance,
Frank Hansen.

Firstly unless yours is one of the very first Xantias then it will not have a 2 pin connector.
Up until roughly the introduction of the MK2 Xantia they had a 30 pin connector in with the fuses where the handbooks are kept, Mk2s then went onto a 16 pin connector. If either of these connectors are fitted then the paperclip method won't work, you need a professional code reader.

Oh, ok.
Well, mine is a '95 Xantia 1.6i with the Magneti Marelli 8P ECU.
Is has the 30-pin connector, so I guess I'll have to visit my Citroën-dealer then
It's just that they want ~£120 to extract the fault codes for me ... I think its kind of expensive, for say max. 15 mins of work
Thanks for you reply

I also looked at this item, but by studying the manual (found here: http://www.drapertools.com/draper/external/68079ins.pdf) you'll see that this also mentions the green 2-pin connector found in the engine compartment.
So I don't think it'll work...

Thank you for the offer Richard. Unfortunatly I live in Denmark, so I think it'll be cheaper to just take it to the repair shop
By the way, I just received this link on mail: http://xantia.rtkmail.ru/files/diags.pdf
saying it should be possible to ground the C3-pin from the 30-pin connector .. Well, I don't know. I remember measuring the voltage on this pin, gave ~13.8V (with engine running) - I'd think it would be 0V, since the Engine Management Light is not on...
Anyways, perhaps I'll give it a try tomorrow, or just take it straight to the shop...
