Hi
I have a 2007 Citroen C5 1.6HDi .
My problem is that the engine cooling fan continues to run long after engine turned off. Thus flattens battery.
Coolant levels and coolant/engine temp all look ok.
It is an intermittent fault.
I asked some adivice at local garage and was advised it was a "relay"
I think it maybe something attached to the main fan assembly but not sure??
I cant find anything about the relay online in order to buy one???
Any help much appreciated.

You could do with plugging in a code reader that does live data. Other than your relay possible fault, other things could include the engine temperature sensor is giving a high value or if you have a dpf it might be trying to do a regeneration when the engine is switched off.
We had a 2010 C3 petrol and the fan on that kept running for a long time - it turned out there had been a bad batch of temp sensors and Citroen did a recall/technical note to replace them but it was a recall where you only found out if you went to a Citroen dealer with the fault.

The cooling fan relay (number 3) should be located on the fan cowling. It can easily be tested with a multi meter so dont just go replacing it without getting it checked properly.

My C8 had the same issue after I bought it and drove 200 miles home, fan over ran, next morning the battery was dead. You can go down the replacement route but before you get the parts the best thing I found to do, was start and stop the engine, I do it 5 times, if the fan hasn't stopped I disconnect the battery. But I'm lucky, the battery is next to my feet with a quick release

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.
