My Sister's 2011 1.6 DV6C EGS. 'Box has thrown a wobbly, was failing to engage gears and then dropping out of gear. Now it won't do anything (i.e. start!), and is stuck in reverse. Diagbox reports P1755 - Clutch position fault - and it's permanent, and came right back after I deleted it. There were reports of some mechanical noise, but not sure what. 107k miles, still on original clutch. Can't even move it as it's in reverse and the clutch is engaged. I'm wondering if I depressure the actuator if that will release it into Netural... nothing to lose I suppose. Googling the fault doesn't seem to turn up much concrete, maybe low oil level (although there is no real evidence it's leaked out, and it was reading 40bar on diagbox), or maybe poor connection on the actuator connections. However, my guess is it needs a new clutch at least, and then there is a question over the actuator - I think it might be time for bean tins.... Her son turned 17 last week, so she was thinking about changing to a manual - this may just hasten things, but has rather devalued the C4

Re: Beached C4 Pic EGS
Hi Richard, if you have fault P1755 then it's contamination in the gear control piloting actuator.
LOSS OF TRACTION - THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE - IF FAULT CODE P1755 IS PRESENT
Service Action:
1 Gear control piloting actuator (Part No. depending on vehicle specification).
1 Clutch bearing (Part No. depending on vehicle specification) (if necessary).
Read the fault codes:
If fault code P1755 is present: Apply this document
If there are other fault codes: Do not apply this document
N.B.: The fault code P1755 may be accompanied by the fault code P1712
Check
Carry out a gearbox programming sequence:
Replace the clutch stop.
Repair 2
Replace the gear control piloting actuator.

Re: Beached C4 Pic EGS
Thanks Marc. Unlikely contamination, we have owned this since new, never any work on the EGS system - however, I was pretty much thinking that the release bearing was at fault, I guess it has chewed itself up and the position sensor has gone belly up. 50/50 that a new clutch with release bearing would fix it, but it's rather dear to chance on the actuator being faulty as well! I couldn't really repair it where it is, so need to get it into Neutral somehow to move it. I've left it sulking overnight with the selector in N in the vague hope that it might engage neutral when I switch it on again!

Re: Beached C4 Pic EGS
Good luck with it Richard - I knew I had heard of this before, so checked the TSB for this code and sure enough the above is what the TSB says.
As it happens, today was taking a friend to the surgery and on the way back the Aircross went ballistic! All ESP functions disabled, multiple messages and then clutch overheating message came on - telling me to decrease use of the clutch pedal! Then I thought I had an issue with the screen, as that went from CarPlay to navigation - which I thought oh no, another issue, then realised it was trying to navigate me to the dealer!
Rang them up and earliest they can book it in is 2nd October!, but have booked me a car for 4 days. I think the clutch issue is a software update according to the tech and I confirmed after the TSB for that, but likely an ABS rear wheel sensor has become contaminated / damaged for the ESP issues - we shall see.
Good luck with the Picasso, but IIRC when it goes like this it's an off-road tow on a flatbed if your trick doesn't work.

I've got neutral and started it up. I'll run the computer over it again tomorrow and see what it says running. There's nothing lost in taking the box out to see what the clutch / actuator looks like, except a few hours of my time
Good luck with getting the dealer to fix yours, Marc.

Good luck both on resolving your issues... So, let me get this right... If a fault develops the navigation system take over and directs you to the nearest dealer?
I like that!

Re: Beached C4 Pic EGS
My son has one of these (2012, 2 litre diesel), which had a very similar problem. We left it to the 'expert' (a mobile mechanic who trailered it to a workshop in another town without telling us where
) - he eventually fixed it, but admitted later that he trained himself on my son's car (and now fixes other people's EGS problems much quicker).
Anyway, the point of this waffle is that the engine/box had to come out several times before it was finally fixed - had to come out from below, so really only possible if you have a hoist.

I'd say you have nothing to loose by trying to reprogram the clutch & gear actuators first. Just make sure you have good battery support off another running car with jump leads.

Re: Beached C4 Pic EGS
My hope that it might have been low on oil was dashed when I jacked it up and checked, and there's plenty in the tank. The fault was pretending to be intermittent, and it cleared, but then cam right back when I cycled the key as permanent. Looking in live data the clutch slave should move when the brake is pressed, but the reported value doesn't move at all, so there's def something wrong with it! Actually I think I can here it moving - it's certainly doing something as after a few brake presses it ran the pump to re-pressure. My guess in fact is that it is moving and only the position sensor is faulty, which is a bit annoying because it's still a box out job. Cheap nasty fix might be just to replace the slave!! I did find this info from Valeo however: https://www.valeoservice.co.uk/en-uk/te ... aulic-unit, which is similar to that Marc posted above, and talked about contamination and might mean it won't reprogram with the new slave in - and the oil in the tank is very dark looking! Interestingly the viscosity of the Tutela oil, is very similar to LHM....

Re: Beached C4 Pic EGS
Seems the TSB I posted and Valeo are referring to the same issue then Richard, so action would seem to be dependent on the outcome of checks 1 and 2.
