Steering Rack boot......right side on a LHD v.6 Activa

I am struggling with a steering rack boot.
------(Right hand side/LHD drive V6 Activa)
The boot has popped of (at red arrow) and I cannot work out a way of reattaching it .... I thus cannot secure it with a new ligature.

Does anyone have advice about the best way to do this job ?
Getting my hands in there seems imposable !

Imagine it will be down to which is easiest to remove...rack, subframe, or engine!!

A moot point Richard... I do know in an RHD V6 it's a doddle with the engine removed

Are you fitting an original style stiff plastic boot, or an aftermarket rubber boot?

I had a long chat with Alasdair about this last evening and suggested it might be best to remove the rack... I've never done the job, except on a scrapper with no engine, so I'll be interested to know how it goes...

Just trying to slip a rubber boot back on.....strapping has failed so it has popped off (has been on about 5 years)

Now then Alasdair, behave yourself! I once ripped a V6 engine out with an angel grinder but that was a in a scrapper... Yours isn't...

Sounds to me that a special tool is needed, one designed and made buy an enterprising fitter.
Then add it to this thread.

Fail.....it popped off on full lock......just cannot get it set tight before crimping.

Round two.....struggle to get the boot back on....AGAIN !

This time I will try jubilee clip....It is a good type.... and it fits in the grove in the boot neck

Update:
Attempt No2.... This is the method using a same size socket, a matching boot and the same type of jubilee clip.......this shows how tight it can grip.
I gripped the socket in my vice and pulled the boot as hard as I could, it did not come off (nor did the socket launch itself at my face.....that "errr moment of danger came after the experiment ! )

and this the same on the car......I am showing the boot at full steering lock so max stretch.
I will leave it like this all day to test/see if it slips off and maybe "set" the rubber boot (if it does such a thing)......

I will fold the "tail" of the clip out of the way of the boot later to make sure it does not catch and damage it.
