Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
How old is the car?
The traction battery probably has insufficient charge. The batteries are only guaranteed for 8-10 years I believe, but of course will start to degrade and reduce their capacity over time. The car probably needs a good run to charge it up.

Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
The 12V car battery is irrelevant in this case it has nothing to do with the traction battery for the traction system which is separate and near the rear end under the boot.
Without a diagnostic there's not much you can do. If the conditions are all met for electric mode, then there may be a fault in the electric vacuum pump control if you are getting codes P1181, P11B6 returned with a professional level diagnostic tool.
As for the battery, all I'm saying is they warrant them for between 8-10 years. They're about £6.5k to replace.

Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
But did it return any of these specific fault codes?
If it does and your build date is before 13443 then it's possible this is the cause, but there are specific tests that are undertaken to check the pressure and voltage of the circuit. The remedy is to replace the complete electric vacuum unit. So may be worth discussing with your dealer and quote TSB reference B1HW016DQ0 to them.

Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
No sorry, if there's any relay it will be integrated into the Engine fuse box most likely and these components are non-user replaceable.

Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
They're just being picky - as the parts are the same, and early Citroen-badged DS5s are still on the parts database under Citroen! And you can order the parts from Citroen too in any case by part number.

Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
thanks for all your info ,i had a ds5 a few years ago (2.0 style) but just had to have the hybrid .could the stop/start be at fault as when i slow down for junctions or stop at junctions the hybrid still drives rear whees but the engine never cuts out

Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
The Stop Start is a very finicky system and I suspect you have the older system with ultra capacitor and converter unit that is hidden away behind the front wheel arch liner. This systems depends on multiple conditions to be satisfactory before it will operate, apart from the actual SS Battery itself.

Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
i know i may sound stupid but i am not very mechanically minded ,the symptoms are ) when i start up it shows hybrid system working and zero emissions within a few seconds engine kicks in when driving slowly i,e car parks /junctions etc it shows power driving rear wheels but engine is ticking over so NO zero emissions had a diagnostic check came back with electronic servo vacuum pump fault tried the obvious first (changed the fuse) still same could this vacuum pump really be the cause or could it be something more. the hybrid battery is showing full charge and then goes down after driving rear wheels for a while but then charges back up again so this makes me think that the battery and charging system is ok

Re: ds5 hybrid electric mode
getting new vacuum pump fitted today .hope this sorts it out. does the new pump have to be married to the ecu before it will work??
