Vibrating noise in boot of Citroen C1
Hello all, question for you: I get this steady vibrating noise from the boot of my C1 whenever I'm above 10mph. I don't notice on the open road, probably because of the engine noise. Anyway, there's next to nothing in the boot, just a couple of folded-up shopping bags and a first aid kit. The plastic thing on the boot door is loose (see pic). You can see I've used my engineering expertise to stop the wobbling with Blu-tack. How can I reattach the plastic thing? And what's the name for that bit, anyway?
Many thanks!

That doesn't look like anything factory-fitted - seems to be some 'thing' somebody else has fitted, so can't help you there.

Weird. Maybe it was an optional extra

I doubt it, as accessories are usually a bit more 'polished' than plain nuts and bolts drilled into the trim - it looks like somebody has made their own contraption to secure something they once had....

Looks like the rear wiper motor cover to me, There is an updated part number for it too suggesting it may be modified

That metal thing doesn't bear any resemblance to me - look at the steel ring - I can't see that on the above??

Re: Vibrating noise in boot of Citroen C1
The metal part steel ring is the lock striker, this is shown in the diagram for the tailgate lock rather than the rear wiper motor diagram.
I'm 100% confident that the plastic part shown is the rear wiper motor cover above part no B001099580.

Yes, I think so too.
From memory (as a neighbour used to own a C1) it's 'back to front' on these: striker is on the (glass) boot lid and catch is on the bodywork.

If it turns out to be nothing inside the boot, have a look underneath in case it is related to the exhaust or an exhaust heat shield.

Re: Vibrating noise in boot of Citroen C1
Thank you, all. Much appreciated. It looks like it's the rear wiper motor cover, which is pretty loose. Anyone know how I can remove/reattach securely? Thanks, B.

Re: Vibrating noise in boot of Citroen C1
Looking at the pictures Marc put up, looks to just clip into place.
If just stopping vibration, then a little bit of self adhesive foam might be all it needs. Draught strip stuff, especially the big black stuff is great for this task.

Or if wanting to make a little job into a bigger task (as I invariably do!) Then perhaps these holes, which appear redundant on the pictures: Might be good candidates to add a rivet nut and a (roofing bolt or something like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266135476941?) are nice and flush, available in long lengths, small diameter (M5 or M6 plenty for this job)

Hmmm... I'll keep this clean, make sure your wife's luggage is not in the boot when looking for a vibrating noise

Anything can rattle in a car, normally plastic, that's probably why after 10mph you don't hear it because you've now pulled away and let your foot of the clutch

Re: Vibrating noise in boot of Citroen C1
First thing is to remove it & check if any of the fixing points are broken. Leave it off for a few days to confirm this is the cause of the noise. If its is you can either.
1. Just leave it off.
2. Try something above like double sided tape etc.
3. Replace it, as i said above when i looked up the part there is an updated part number for it, this suggests it may have been modified from the original one & may be a better fit?
