LED lights that actually lasts, C5 X7

Unread post by jontech »

Anyone along with me who has problems with replacement LEDs for the C5 X7 that they don't last very long? Start blinking, fades and goes black after a while. Suspecting it is related to spikes in voltage as the hydraulic pump engages (but not sure). Anyways, are there lights that actually work? Speaking particularly about the G4 DRL lights and T10s.

See my post here for the Angular Lighting (I had Xenon directional for the main headlamps, so they use a different bulb on the angular lighting than vehicles with halogen headlamps.

As for the DRLs I did, and used the same bulbs for the cornering (angular lighting) with some modifications of the old bulb holder. See the thread and my post here:

Thanks Marc! So for the DRLs you used the ones from the link in the first post of the thread? Any information on how they lased in the long run? I replaced my DRLs with LEDs about a year ago, and now they have failed.

I bought decent LED to start with and they were faultless for the DRLs after I modified the housing from the original bulbs to ensure they held in tight. I sold my X7 a few years ago and they were working perfectly at that time.

The original links to the listing are no longer valid as it was a while ago, but the there are similar ones available . Some are shown with a plastic bridge between the pins, which can often be pulled off to give more flexibility. There are also some new entrants on the market that seem to come complete with the holder and an LED fitted. I haven't used those but they may be simpler if they will go straight in without any cutting of the original bulb holder:
