Pop the VIN up so the codes can be related specifically to the vehicles engine ECU (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).

Re: Fault Code P0949 and B1003
I can't help you with B1003 as there are 2 digits missing from the end. This is a data / systems / communications generic fault that can appear in may systems of the vehicle, so needs the last 2 digits to tie it down to the specific system.
As for p0949:
So the first question is have you had any work done on the clutch lately?
As for p0949:
| Fault Code: | P0949 |
| Description of Fault: | Clutch programming incomplete or not carried out fault: Not characterised. Detection that the bite point has not been programmed. The time of appearance of the fault code is 1s. Context of appearance of the fault code: The following conditions have to be met:
|
| Conditions for Fault to clear: | - |
| Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: | Controlled manual gearbox ECU re-initialises the bite point |
| Symptoms: | Lack of power |
| Suspect Areas: | Controlled manual gearbox ECU |
So the first question is have you had any work done on the clutch lately?

Hi Marc
Thanks for your reply. No I have not had any work done as I just brought the car 2 weeks ago. Just a normal service, bearings and brake pads. Gear seemed to over rev when I set off from traffic lights.

What about the history on it? These piloted manual gearboxes can be a nightmare, a manual or automatic box is preferable.
If the clutch has had any work done on it like a replacement, then the clutch bite point must be programmed which requires dealer level diagnostic tools. The ECU is saying there is a programming fault or it has been started and not completed.
If you have any sort of warranty, take it back now is my advice or this could end up being costly.

Sorry no history. But I can contact the buyer I brought the car off. It was a private seller I'm afraid

Marc, can it be fixed with a diagbox diagnostic?

Diagbox should have the guided procedure contained within it if you have a Lexia VCI kit.
I would look either in the repair section, or run a global test and when complete, look for the piloted gearbox ECU from the list, select this and within the following menus there should be a procedure there for this operation.

Hi Marc. Thank you! I spoke to the guy who sold the car to me. He had not got any work done on the gearbox. But I know he has been playing about with the car with his snap on machine. Could that be the problem?

Very likely!
Entering any procedure before cancelling correctly or exiting the application correctly can leave the ECU in an unconfigured state. This can then lead to the sort of faults you are getting.
