Hi Lads/ladies,
I haven't been on for a few years moved away from French yolks for a bit . I'm back to suffer the frustration associated with them again and looking forward to challenging the minds on here.. I have just bought a 2.0hdi c5 x7 tourer estate its still the far end of the country but i inspected it today. It has a significant injector knock i think and needs a pair of wiper motors and a passenger side regulator.

Nurse Nurse come quick
Sure you will get all the help needed to get said C5 back to health and regulator is the easy bit done that myself and i am nowhere near a competent home spanner mechanic.

If you're so inclined, open up the windscreen wiper motor(s) to have a look inside as a few people have managed to resurrect them in the past - there are details about them somewhere on the forum ! Details on how to do the regulator are here -----> viewtopic.php?t=57993 As for the injector knock - turn the stereo up to 11 and the problem goes away

Yeah I'm a gluton for punishment, I hadn't intended buying a car at present I just found myself the wrong side of a hedge on Saturday with my old car so moving on and into more troubled waters.
I have done a few regulators and wiper motors over the years but never heard of wiper motors that talk to each other so under priced the cost of repairs. I think I need to just bit the bullet and get two motors. It'll still be cheaper than buying a fully functional C5 on this side of the water.

Condrons in Tullamore are breaking 7 or 8 C5's so you should be sorted theredarbuck wrote: 31 Oct 2022, 21:02I think I need to just bit the bullet and get two motors. It'll still be cheaper than buying a fully functional C5 on this side of the water.

Welcome back into the fold, I've got to say that "wrong side of a hedge" tickled me, what an epic turn of phrase...darbuck wrote: 31 Oct 2022, 21:02 ...I hadn't intended buying a car at present I just found myself the wrong side of a hedge on Saturday with my old car
There's nothing particularly arduous in the list of defects you mentioned in the opening post of this thread, but you know the forum will chip in with advice should you get stuck. The real head scratchy stuff with the X7 is the hydraulics, and of course, the electrics, as it's french, and has wires, we know there's going to be trouble. That being said, I do really like the X7, it's a striking-looking car, that's aged well because 14 years on the shape still looks fresh, and they do drive really nicely.

Hi lads thanks for the warm welcome back,
Hi Ross, thanks for the heads up, I was on to Condron's and all the other breakers in a 50 mile radius which is quite a few as you probably know and they all said they hadn't got any usable motors, hens teeth comes to mind. I got a set in Poland ebay. Hopefully it will be sorted. Concerning how many had the same thing to say about them.
Hi Jay, unfortunately she has conventional suspension I like playing with the hydractive, I had a mark 1 but I suppose its something less to worry about. I have to say she felt fairly smooth when I did give her a very short spin on the test drive so in the rain with no wipers, I wasn't going far. Just over a rough surface to see if anything fell off Ha ha.
I Heard today that the Ford Galaxy and Picasso motors are the same, Pinch of salt I think. Being a Cit and there willingness to throw a wobbler I would be nervous trying but it could end up being a option of last resort. They look similar but not the same. Considering one is Valeo and the other is Bosch.

There is a firm in Crewkerne that recons the wiper motors but I cant find their contact details at the moment. The wipers on mine were intermittent , cured by a new battery!

Hi Peter,
I thought there must be somewhere that would recon these, I'll have a look and if I find it I will post here.
Thanks for the heads up, I remember you being very knowledgeable the last time I had issues.

Woah, I just had a look for wiper motors out of curiosity. People wanting 300-400 quid for a used one...insane
Refurbishment sounds like the way to go

Hi All,
Had an auto sparks check the motors he said motors like new, must be control board on the original set. I am heading up to put the new ones in tomorrow and drive it home either way. I'll plug it in when I get it home and get some data and go from there. Have 3 boxes bits to give it a service timing belt auxiliary belt and harmonic balancer.
