Citroën C1 1.0 high oil consumption

I have a Citroën C1 which is bought used. I got it for cheap as the service history was not known for 80.000 km. The car has done a total of 171.000 km. It is now using some oil. When I fill the oil to the maximum mark on the dipstick it takes around 1500 km for the oil level to get to the minimum mark. I'm suspecting bad valve stem seals as it is smoking when revved.

I'm planning on doing a compression test soon. I've also checked for oil leaks and I couldn't find any. Is there any other thing than this I could check?

Might Be worth also checking the turbo bearings for excessive play, this could allow the oil that is used to lubricate the turbo to be burnt.
I would also take the air intake off (after the turbo) at the lowest point & check for excessive oil in there.

There is no turbocharger on this engine. The engine is the 1KR 1.0 petrol engine.

Oil burning is very common on high milage mk1 C1/107/Aygo.
This Daihatsu/toyota engine isnt the best..
New rings, pistons and oil squirters seem to be the remedy

What should the compression be for this engine? So you would think an engine rebuild or replacement is the way to go? It's running fine and I don't have any other problem with it. Although it has some ticking which I think is pretty normal for these engines.

In my doc backup PSA dosen't specify any compression figures.
But on a petrol engine "healthy" compression should be circa 10-14bar if my memory serves.
Usually one cylinder is lower than the others.

Yes i'd recommend a bottom end rebuild or short block.
A second hand engine feels like a false economy since the "new" engine will fail eventually, like the original one.
