After trying unsuccessfully to talk to my X7 for several days with the Actia cable I bought 10 years ago, it seems to be a no-go as I don't have the "full chip" version.
So the question is: send it away to be updated or just buy a new one?
A seller on eBay (autodiagnosticsuk995) claims to update them to rev c (presumably by adding the missing components) for £45.
Alternatively I can get a new one from Easy Diagnostics for £125 before the FCF discount...
Decisions, decisions. Any opinions?
P.S. Saw this on another forum...anybody know if the claim about the "USB com board driver (multi instance)" board not being compatible with 7.02 is true? This is what mine is detected as in Windows Device Manager...

Yes I can see half the hardware is missing on your board.
I think this is going to be your choice really as to what you do...

Mmm it's probably best to buy the ED one isn't it? Even after paying to update the existing one, it's always going to be the inferior item...although probably still serviceable on older PSA cars

Yes, you could keep the older one for the older vehicles, which would sae you having to downgrade firmware (as this can also be a reason for connection issues to earlier vehicles in some cases).
