DS3 Hi-Fi Sistem - Help Needed

Unread post by Cascabulho »

Good Evening,

Has anyone of you tried to install the Hi-Fi system on a DS3? (Subwoofer and Central Speaker)

I've already done the entire installation with everything original and I can't get it to be properly active.

When i active in the diagbox the option of multiplexed amplifier, the SMEG iv2+ gets the sound too loud and without the possibility of volume control (neither center speaker or amplifier works in this option), if i go back to the ARKAMYS option (inicial option), everything is back to normal but no amplifier or center speaker work.

Am I missing something?
The fuse of 20A is visualy ok, however it is in that group of fuses where the heated seats are and these never worked, is it something there?
They are both separate and not linked to BSI.

Ideas please?

Hi and welcome.

What exactly have you installed into the car when you say you have "done the entire installation" (please include everything).

The reason I ask is the factory fitted amplifier has different wiring harnesses too....

Pop your VIN up so I can see what you have and what may be different in the wiring department.

Hello,

I have installed the central speaker (OEM) and the amplifier (OEM).
I have all cables on the car from factory, nothing has been modified.

Ok, but have you changed the fascia harness?

Ok, so there is a different fascia wiring harness as I suspected. This may not be suitable for the equipment you are trying to fit. By fascia harness, I mean the main wiring harness that goes behind the dashboard. To give you an example, there are 28 separate Fascia wiring harnesses available on the DS3! Each is specifically for different equipment and options fitted to the vehicle.

Your Factory-fitted Fascia harness is this:
SMEG ANALOGUE RADIO RECEIVER AND INDEPENDENT TELEMATIC UNIT EVOLUTION 2.0 SINCE RPO 14056 UNTIL RPO 15210 OR SMEG DIGITAL RADIO RECEIVER AND INDEPENDENT TELEMATIC UNIT EVOLUTION 2.0 SINCE RPO 14056 UNTIL RPO 15210
This is the harness description for the unit with Equaliser Amp Fitted:
MAP READING LAMP + AMBIENT LIGHTING AND MODIFIED ECONOMY ELECTRICAL ARCHITECTURE AND INDEPENDENT TELEMATIC UNIT EVOLUTION 2.0 SINCE RPO 15197 OR MODIFIED ECONOMY ELECTRICAL ARCHITECTURE AND REAR CAMERA OBSTACLE DETECTOR AND INDEPENDENT TELEMATIC UNIT EVOLUTION 2.0 SINCE RPO 15197 OR MODIFIED ECONOMY ELECTRICAL ARCHITECTURE AND WITH EQUALISER AMPLIFIER AND INDEPENDENT TELEMATIC UNIT EVOLUTION 2.0 SINCE RPO 15197

Hello,

Strange, because i have all the cables there and have Telematic 2.0 (BTA2.0).

I have not the cable to connect the rear camera, but the amplifier yes.

Yes, the rear subwoofer uses the same harness from what I can see, but there is definitely a different fascia harness. What about the central speaker? Is there a connection for that?

Regarding the fuses, yes the Hi Fi Amplifier has a separate fuse. Now I don't have an updated wiring diagram, but this one is for a previous telematics unit with Hi Fi Amp.

This is the specific fuse box location for BFH1. It is Fuse F38 and is 20A for the HiFi system. Fingers crossed that may be the one.

Here you can see BFH1 is the fuse box in question. 8427 is the Loudspeaker Amp and you can see there is a live that goes to the BFH1

It's really strange.

I have only buy all the parts because i have the connections, but maybe i was wrong about it.

Yes the central speaker have the connector too.

The amplifier and central speaker are connected to the car with the factory harness cables.

Yes.

I have that fuse box with two fuses from origin.
One for the Hi-Fi (that was not come from factory) and other for the heated seats that never worked.
F38 - Hi-Fi
F39- Heated Seats

The two fuses of 20A are visually fine, but maybe they are both faulty?

I have consulted several diagrams.

The extra fuse box (BFH1) are connected to the PSF1 or BSM correct?

But the strange things is that i have 2 wires on heated seats, one wire to the Hi-Fi, but no wire to connect the BFH1 to the PSF1 strange....

Yes there has to be a wire from the BFH1 fuse box to the Engine Fuse Box (PSF1) otherwise there will be no power. BFH1 should be connected to Maxi Fuse MF7. That's the larger fuses that are usually under the main engine fuse box.

Please see my pictures.

The cable that is missing is connected on the right end side correct?

I didn't find the 80A MF7. I presume that it will be on another place?

Maxi Fuses are usually somewhere in the engine bay fusebox.
