HELP, Citroen seatbelt sensor

Unread post by James2021 »

Hi,

So I need some help.

I recently got an MOT on my car and it failed because of the seatbelts(plastic shrouds missing when I bought the car).

I purchased universal seatbelt buckles off ebay and they will fit the car, but whilst I was removing the old seatbelt buckles I broke the seatbelt and the seatbelt will not turn off when I turn the car on as obviously the car believes I haven't plugged the seatbelt in.

It is just a wire now that can't be plugged into my new seat belts.
Is there anyway to turn off the seatbelt sensor on the car, obviously I wear my seatbelt it's just the car doesn't know that.

Could I just cut the wire? Or would I need to take it to a Citroen dealership or a normal garage? Or is there a way I can do this myself?

My car is a Citroen c3 2012 black edition.

Thank you for your time.

No, you can't disable the warnings. You have cut or damaged the sensor wire that detects whether the seat belt has been fastened.

You can't just put a generic ebay seatbelt on - you really need the correct type as originally fitted - whether from a donor vehicle or get it replaced properly by a dealer or decent garage. You will fail your MOT if the seatbelts are not properly fitted and working. Also be aware if you have seat belt pre-tensioners.....
