C5 X7 fan speed always same

Is this strange thing known by someone? The fan speed cannot be controlled, it’s always the same regardless of how much I try to adjust it. The fan speed is more or less medium (increases s bit when reversing the car). Also the auto mode won’t make any difference. A/C compressor clicks when I turn the A/C on, but it doesn’t blow cold. Do you guys know what makes this? Probably the cure?

The car is Citroen C5 2010 tourer 2.0hdi.

There sounds like 2 things going on and separate issues.

1) The lack of A/C cold air may mean it needs re-gassing - when was it last re-gassed and serviced? Periodically the A/C system gas and oil should be vacuumed out by a specialist machine, then disinfected and cleaned, then refilled with the correct amount of oil and gas. If you system is low on gas then it won't be effective.

2) The fan speed is controlled by the Blower Motor Control Module. When this unit fails it usually results in the fan remaining at a constant speed (usually the fastest).

This is a new car for me (needed tourer because of a dog). So, my sedan will be a spare car in the future

That said, I have no idea when the AC has been refilled. Maybe I need to do that…

The probable cause of the blower then could be that control module? Do you have any idea of the spare part number?

If this is for your C5 X7 vehicle with VIN ending in 712. the the part number is 6441S7 and as of today it costs £170.78 (UK) from Citroen direct including our 20% VAT. Price may differ in Helsinki of course. Be aware of fitting cheaper brands found on Amazon an other places for £20 - the quality can be terrible and they may not even last a few months, as the reviews state....
