I Have a 2014 C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 HDI (Right Hand Drive) VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I've been told my heater blower motor is on its way out, its still working but it makes a strange noise & ive been told its probably the bearings. I'm wanting to get it sorted as I'm soon going to Poland (I live in the UK) and last thing i want is for it to pack in while over in Poland!
Anyway I've sourced a new one but I'm unsure on the actual location of the unit, I've been told its in the centre of the dash & someone else told me its on the right hand side behind all the panels near the steering wheel!?
Any info for the actual location of this unit & any tips for removing/replacing much appreciated before i start ripping all the panels only to find I'm in the wrong location!
The front blower motor is shown at (24) and on the right hand side. This one has Auto A/C so there are are several motors for the rear cabin too, but this one is for the front.
So probably means getting the trim panel off by the driver's left leg and getting in that way.

I have taken those panels off to look and it does look like the motor is there, my new motor is on the way to me in the post so as soon it comes i shall attempt to remove the old motor. It does look like its in an awkward place, is there any "special" procedure to remove this motor, is it just loosen the bolts and it will drop or is there something else i need to do (apart from disconnect the plug) ?
I contacted my Citroen Main dealer and they said the OEM part number for the blower motor for my vehicle is 1609690280 so i ordered this which states its a replacement for that part number : https://www.autodoc.co.uk/denso/14547174
Hi guys, ok following on from my previous post i have a problem...
A mechanic originally told me that the issue was the "blower motor" but he didn't say that there was 3 different motors for the heat circulation so i assumed there was just the one!.
After removing the panels on drivers side thinking this was the only motor, i turned the ignition on & turned the heating on to make sure this was where the sound is coming from, but the sound seems to be coming from the centre of dash & not from the driver side heater blower motor!
Is there a blower in the centre behind the dash? & if so, which part of the vehicle does this motor control the heat for? but my main concern is replacing this motor myself, i was ok removing the driver side dash panels as it was pretty straight forward, but how easy is it to gain access to the centre motor as I'm now 99.9% sure this is the motor that has an issue & where the sound is coming from!? Also does anyone have any idea of the OEM part number for this motor for my vehicle?
Unfortunately with this other information, it is not straightforward to diagnose on a Forum. There are various stepper motors on the system which are used for both the air temperature mixing and the air distribution. According to model and trim level there can be several blower motors which are used for providing air flow to the centre and rear of the vehicle.
All the while the systems are running and working you are unlikely to have a fault code which is going to make it difficult to troubleshoot. I'd avoid replacing parts randomly until you know what the problem is, or leave it to develop. Poland should not be a problem for parts as a lot of parts for these are sourced from there and there is a network of dealers.
As for official parts, we can help, but please see below:

The part is already ordered and on its way to me so I'm going to try it & see if that fixes the problem, its a 30 day return so its no problem. If it doesn't fix the problem then I've come across an online Hayes Manual for my vehicle that will hopefully tell me where the motor is for the centre console & how to get to it, but I've read so far that there is only 1 heater blower, but you say there are other motors to?
Like i say though, the noise is coming from the centre console area i think so its that motor that i will need to replace, but i will know for sure as soon i fit the new motor that's on it's way in post.
I'm not going to leave it and risk travelling to Poland in-case it packs in as the trip is a 2.5k mile round trip so last thing i want is for it to pack in during the trip as i will have my 4 legged friend & my mrs in the car with me & last thing i will need is the heating packing in!!
Yes, there can be additional blower motors under the front driver / passenger seats serving the rear compartment as shown below and another one in the rear ceiling for the back of the vehicle.

great, thanks again for help!
My motor has arrived in post so i will attempt to fit it this weekend, will let you know how i get on!
My motor arrived so today i decided to fit it, but before i go into detail here's a quick recap of my drama!
First thing i wanted to check was how many blower motors there are on my vehicle, to determine this i disconnected the blower motor that i bought a replacement for, which is located on the driver side. So i did this then i turned on the ignition and turned my blower settings onto full, and it was silent with no air flow etc, so its safe to say that my vehicle only has the 1 blower motor which is the one i disconnected.
So now i decided to remove the blower motor. It turns out that there is only 1 bolt that holds this blower in place. Some people say there are 3 bolts etc. But on my vehicle there is only one bolt (there are 3 more bolts but these are NOT mounting bolts, these are for the blower casing) So its just the 1 mounting bolt which holds the blower motor in place, remove this and then you have twist the unit so it frees from the fixings points and then the motor drops out with ease.
As soon as i did this i noticed what the problem was instantly....
Now bare in mind, that prior to this, i taken my car to a garage for a quote on the fix (2 garages actually). They inspected my vehicle and listened to the noise, I explained to the garage that the only way i could describe the noise was as if there was a leaf stuck somewhere! (leaf being the key word here!!!) so after the garage inspected & listened to the noise, they both said it was 100% the blower motor was faulty & was probably the bearings and a new unit was needed...
The first garage quoted me £350 just for the motor unit as its only Citroen you can buy these from (which is bull crap as i ordered a none OEM one for £120 which i found fairly easy online!!) & then 1-2 hours hours labour which costs around £30-40 per hour)... so around £450-500 total to replace this "Broken Motor".
The second garage, quoted me £500 and this was JUST for the fitting as i said i had a motor replacement in the post, so they quoted me £500 just for the fitting as they said they would need to remove all the dashboard just to get to the motor and because of this it will take them around 2 full days work, even though i said that i think the motor is on the driver side, they said the motor is in the canter console behind the dash..
..So back to my removal... I remove the motor, and as soon as i looked at it, there it was, glowing like a halo on Jesus & i found the Holy Grail... a LEAF! ...yup, a damn LEAF was the issue. I remove this 2cm long leaf that was stuck to the fins of the fan, refit the motor, tested it & just like that, the noise was gone & my broken fan that 2 garages wanted to charge me around £500 for to repair, was "fixed" that cost me about 30 mins labour in total!
So not only did i save around £500, i also don't need the new motor i bought which cost £120 but that's ok as i can return it for full refund as its unused, so in all I've saved around £5-600. Now I'm no mechanic... Far from it, and the only reason why i decided to do this myself was because the original garage said that they would have to order the part which could take upto a few weeks! ..so that's when i decided to try source the part myself, which i did! I'm just thinking now that if i just let the garage deal with it, i would have been around £500 down & they would have basically removed a leaf & charged me for a whole new unit along with labour etc.
Now i know repairing vehicles isn't cheap & i know mechanics train for years to become qualified & are good at what they do, I've had many repairs done over the years & not once have i questioned the cost/time etc.. but on this occasion these 2 garages got it totally wrong & in my eyes was nothing short of a scam really should i have fell for it, its plastic mechanics like these that give real trustworthy mechanics a bad name.
But anyway ..main thing is, my fan is all good now. I've also just bought a replacement rear high level brake light as my old one is faulty, which has cost me £40 for the new unit. I also got quoted from the first garage for this and they said £106 just for the part & then labour for fitting it!!! ..so yup, its fair to say, I've just saved myself a small fortune!!
Stumbled along this post and had leaf in my head all the while I was reading your saga.
The only car I've ever had a leaf get through to the blower was the mk2 pre-facelift C4. An unbelievable amount of rumbling and vibration coming from the dash and I swear I could feel it in my seat too.
When I finally got around to getting the blower out, expecting to see a snapped blade or some other imbalance, a crisp brown leaf (undamaged and relatively large beech leaf I think) fell out.
I assumed filters would be catching this but it seems there's a chink in the armour somewhere.

Hi My blower has packed up too.
With the engine running I was getting 14v into the resistor and only 11.5v out, with the fan set to full. Is that normal?
I tried putting 12v straight on to the blower motor and got nothing. I assume it's the blower motor at fault? Before I fork out for a new one.
Thanks
