RT6 Wiring
Is it possible to get a circuit diagram for wiring to and from RT6 Head unit in our 2012 Citroen C5. Also, wiring to and from amp. It has Philips factory amp & subwoofer.

Here you go:

Re: RT6 Wiring
Thanks. Does anyone know whether the Philips amplifier is located near the subwoofer in the boot, or is it mounted near glove box?

Re: RT6 Wiring
On a left hand drive it is located on the right hand side of the dash behind the glovebox, so I can't be sure on a right hand drive whether this is mirrored over to the left passenger side. or whether it is in the same place behind the dash on the right side.

Re: RT6 Wiring
So if you fitted an Android head unit (to avoid hefty cost of replacing with an oem one, and for extra functionality), configured BSI to ‘no amp present’ then bypassed the Philips amp, is that likely to work? Or is existing wiring to speakers from amp not suited to output of the aftermarket head unit?

Re: RT6 Wiring
That's really going to be one for the seller of the Android unit as the amp on the vehicle is integrated into the RT6 and the BSI. I couldn't for example say how the automatic emergency call to the emergency services and geolocating would work (if at all) in the event of airbag deployment in a crash. These are all things that need to be considered to be honest. I think you would be better off just replacing the RT6 if you have an issue with it. Get a second hand one and see if the seller will code it for you to your factory options.
Although an Android install has been done, I've only seen this on a basic system (RD4) and not one with a full telematics system, amp and the rest of the equipment.

Re: RT6 Wiring
I know that on standard systems the tweeters are fed from the main speaker through a simple capacitor frequency bypass circuit. Some (all?) systems with a separate amplifier have the tweeter fed directly from the amplifier so these are definitely not suited to a standard radio output.
Whether your setup is like this I have no idea. Just be aware that it might be.

Re: RT6 Wiring
Yes, it is probably all too hard, but before abandoning it, just wondering where the actual head unit is shown on the circuit diagram above? I have been able to identify all other components.

8480 is the telematic unit.
8424 is the Amp
8486 : external audio-video input unit
7215 : / multifunction screen
8482 : radio telephone microphone

Re: RT6 Wiring
I am not able to see the wire numbers printed on the actual wires going to the Quadlock (in order to compare with numbers in above wiring diagram). Therefore, are pinout details available for 2012 C5 Exclusive Quadlock with RT6 and/or a table detailing the wires by their colour?

Re: RT6 Wiring
Ignore the colours as PSA change these. The wiring codes are on the wires, but you will have to remove the insulating tape to find them as they are printed every so often along the wire sheath. 'ND' in the diagrams is non-descript - so can be any colour.
So ignore the wire colours and stick to the pin socket numbers as shown.
So for example:
On the RT6 unit (8480), the 8 Pin Black Connector (8V NR) bottom right shows pins 3, 7, 2 & 6.
Pin 2 shows wire 8434: (Ampli + right-hand front output command)
Follow this down to 8424 (the Amplifier) to the top 16 pin black connector (16V NR) where you can see the the 8434 wire is connected to pin 4.
I really think you would be better off replacing the RT6 unit to be honest, as you will likely also use the ability to configure some of the vehicle options like parking and headlight operations etc.

Re: RT6 Wiring
Thanks.
Finding a matching RT6 is like finding hen's teeth. Given their failure rate, I wonder how long an ageing used one would last if you could find one? Pricing for a new one is excessive. Tried to get it repaired but that was good money chasing bad. Have not had a radio, navigation, parking sensors, hands free phone, settings etc for months now, so anything that makes a noise would be welcome!
I suppose the quid pro quo of losing some vehicle options is gaining Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, better navigation, voice recognition, larger and easier to read touch screen, reversing camera, dashcam etc. A modernised infotainment system, with shielding from 'genuine' pricing.

Is it possible to get a Pinout diagram for the Quadlock connector to a RT6 head unit (with HiFi system).

Re: RT6 Wiring
Have a look at my post here - it should have everything you need. Note there is a specific table with the relevant pin outs for models with the HiFi fitted.
