Lexia installing fun n games.

Post by citroenxm »

I'm still having lexia/diagbox install fun and games.

I got another Windows xp with home edition on it.. Started installing diagbox and it stopped half ways through with a fail to install..

I'm not stuck with a half copy of diagbox but cannot find the dB cleaner anywhere to get rid it all.. I tried dooing an xp pro install but the cd drive doesn't want to work... So if I can find dB cleaner I'll try it again.. Anyone have a copy I can down load from by any chance. Seen a few online but they all want membership before downloading.

Thanks for any help

A possible reason for the CD drive not working is dirt on the lens and/or the friction washer. If the drive is the sort that ejects the mechanism take a close look at the lens (it should have an 'oil on water' sheen) and the black washer. I have found that cleaning both can work wonders (the washer with cleaning alcohol, the lens with spectacle cleaning fluid on a cotton bud), but you need to be careful, the lens has a focusing mechanism that could be damaged if too much force is used.

The photo is of my external DVD drive, and shows the friction washer on the drive spindle, and the laser head assembly in the top left area.
