Engine turning over but refusing to start

Unread post by KennyW »

Hi All,

Out of the blue the above happened.

Driven around locally all fine, stopped in local carpark, returned to car tired to start but nothing.

No fault code appeared when the ignition is turned on.

Where are the fuse/s relating to the injection system and appropriate relays ?

User manual no use.

Kenny

Did you first try resynchronise the fob Kenny? This can happen when the rolling codes exceed a certain number (256 or something like that).

Remove key from ignition (important) and leave for 5 minutes or so, then insert the key, turn only to ignition, then within 10 seconds, press lock button for a couple of seconds, release and remove key - do not attempt to start yet. Exit vehicle, lock, unlock with the fob, then get in and try to start it.

Yes X7. Will give the fob procedure a try

Still not starting after the procedure.

This has me puzzled.

Plenty of fuel in it & is it the correct fuel? dont trust the gauge.
Have you tried giving the hand primer a few pumps then re try?

Wheeler,

Plenty of fuel in on Tuesday £50 worth. Tried primer pump and nothing but did remove fuel pipe from filter to engine no fuel.

So no fuel to engine, will check filter, also check for blockages , change filter.

Worth blowing through fuel line from tank.

Have to wait until weekend but weather to be horrible

Any further suggestions gratefully accepted

Might be worth trying a sniff of easy start to see if it will fire, might even be enough to get it home.
Did pumping the hand primer feel like it was getting harder or did it just feel empty?

Car at home, transported back. Primer but didn't go hard. But going to look at fuel filter and supply pipe from tank to filter for blockage. Nothing can be done until Saturday at the earliest but more like Sunday looking at the weather.

Is there a way to test or check the fuel pump is pressurising the fuel rail?

By using live data on diagnostics

Do you have diagbox?
The next basic checks you want to do are check fault codes.
Check for cam & crank synchronisation.
Check the ECU can see a decent engine RPM.
Check the fuel rail pressure is at least 110 bar on cranking.

There are extensive fault codes for this engine - if you can get us the list of those that are appearing it will be a start Kenny.
