Losing the will ... 206cc busts it rad with me..

So, up comes the low coolant warning on the read out checking the coolant bottle its dry, so to get me home it took a litre of the wet stuff. Got home and got a lamp and the underneath of the car was wet , the roads are dry, i then shone my light into the engine bay and the completely bottom of the radiator has a puddle of coolant the full length. Whats caused this.

The rad was new back in the summer it seemed lighter than the other and it was a purchase from auto doc... now have they sent a duffy one or one for a petrol ? It was a bit different of a fit than the one that came out of it which was rotten.

So im needing another rad. Or part numbers ,

I would suspect that the head gasket is leaking and pressurising the system, either that or you have a duff rad.

One of the pipes from the dpf has become away from its clip and smacked a hole small enough to cause the leak, The rad is new its done only 1000 miles hopefully warranty its covered by might get me a replacement.

So today i will be running the car up to temp and recheck my findings of last nignt.

Heres an update, so a second part rad is still in the car go8ng good , today 4 November 2022 coolant level sensor has been replaced the old one when i took it out just needed cleaning but id got a new one and fitted that , coolant warning gone. Ive read people say oh head gasket leak ... it might of been for them but it wasn't for me. So im keeping the one removed as i know it was the ends dirty. Roll on spring i will flush the system and add new coolant.

Did you re-secure the DPF pressure sensor pipework? If it's the silly bent metal clip on the heat shield then I put a cable tie through clip and around both pipes, hasn't melted for me.

Surprisingly little damage to a rad can give a leak (and sometimes what looks like bad damage is still watertight!)

Yes the holding clips have been sorted and the pipes now sit nice as they should.

Excellent, hope it was just punctured rad last time, rather than burst (think I read "busts its rad" as bursts - and was thinking on similar lines to those mentioning cooling system over pressure due to potential head gasket)

MattBLancs quick question 4 u , I've got to put new hand brake cables on the 206cc it hasn't got auto adjusters on the rear has it ? Its drum ones that have auto adjustment isn't it ?

There's auto adjustment built into the caliper (wind the piston back in clockwise as it is on a sort of screw thread as part of the handbrake mechanical)

No adjustment in the cable at caliper end, there is a balance bar at the handbrake lever end (13mm ratchet spanner best to reach down to adjust this) need to remove the centre console round the handbrake to access this end. A fixing either side (close to where seatbelt buckle is) from memory, either there or its under flap at the back - getting muddled up with the coupe I think!

Cheers matt, when you see this it makes you think the car in this video must have rear drum brake set up hence pedal push 40xs.

Yes, am sure is rear drums on that video.

For rear disks: I'm pretty sure theres no need to actually disturb the calipers for just a cable swap - think that winding the balance bar fully slack gives enough to decouple the cables. So just on-off-on-off with the handbrake lever itself should bed everything down ready for final adjustment.
