DS5 speakers and SMEG + IV2

Post by Strix83 »

Hello everyone,

i bought ds5 2015 facelift model (early facelift model i suppose)
I have a problem with speaker system - when I was buying the car I did not notice the issue, but when I started increasing volume - problem!
So, the problem is that the sound quality is very poor...i know the speakers are nothing special, but this sound is terrible.
Aside of the sound quality being poor, there is also a problem with the rear right channel which is not working at all.
I changed the speaker, because it stopped working, and the new did not work as well, but whenever car start/stops it goes off like BOOM.

What we did:
- electrician opened the MM smeg unit, changed audio procesor and prepocesor - nothing changed.
- changed the blown speaker - discovered that the channel was the problem.
- Diagbox did not show any problems or faults
- Asked around to do the software update, but here in serbia there is only one official DS dealer currently - he also has no idea what can be a problem.

Could it be the fusebox somehow, or maybe restart is needed , or wiring is rotten somewhere.. i dont know
I really could use some help ;)

Can you post your VIN up, so I can see what equipment the car has.

Ok, so I just wanted to check whether you had the Amplifier system fitted, which you don't, so that is one less thing to complicate matters. However I don't have the specific wiring for the SMEG system on the later DS5, so can't help you with a diagram there I'm afraid.

I can only suggest trying a new unit to see if there was something you missed.

If you have your old unit, take a picture of the labels and try and get the long number to find a used on - here's a SMEG+ IV2 from a DS3:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274860764640 ... Sw3zFg5sv2

See if the part numbers match up from the back of the units

Just use the numbers from the label on your unit to search for a secondhand unit on eBay or other places like that the long number will begin 96 or 98

Might be a long shot to find the exact same serial number as his...
My SMEG+IV2 from 2015 DS5 is 9814197480. But as long as it's a SMEG+IV2 from any PSA car it will do. Just needs automatic VIN telecoding at delership and it will be calibrated to your vehicle - same as you (now dead) original head unit.
