12v Sockets not working

Post by mrarg1393 »

Hello, I have a 2005 Citroen C5 (facelift version) and neither 12v sockets are working. I’ve checked the fuses which I assume are the correct ones from other replies on here, but the ones that need to be checked are absolutely fine. No breaks in them at all. I’m just a bit perplexed. I know the front socket is deep and I’ve managed to get a “deep” accessory plug in there but no life at all. Exactly the same as the centre console one too for the rear passengers. I don’t really fancy having to remove the dashboard to see what’s going on but if anyone could shed some light as to what it might be, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you checked Fuse F38 in the BH12 fuse box in the glovebox. Be wary there are 2 fuse boxes with similar Fuse numbers - you want the one with the bank that has Fuses F36 to F40.

Where abouts in the glove box is it? I can only see the one that you remove the cover off?

You need to look along the sides, top and bottom to find them - they are usually attached to the main BSI board.

Ah I’ve found it. I’ve checked it, replaced it but both still dead as a dodo. (Even with engine running)

Pop your VIN up (automasked on post submission) and I'll take a look at the wiring diagram

Just checked that and replaced it just in case but still nothing. I have no idea why it’s not working then… must be faulty wiring/connector to the actual socket possibly?

I would be checking the live feed at the sockets (with ignition on) to see if you are getting power - if you are then I suggest that whatever devices have been plugged in have possibly damaged the socket. If that's the case they can be replaced easily enough.
