Air vent behind and adjacent Xantia HDi glovebox.

Unread post by Rhothgar »

This is an example of my frustration and I suppose it comes with experience.

I was hoping to get dash fully built back up today and I am nearly there.

However, I am trying to locate the air vent extension tube behind the glovebox. I’ve got it located but I tried to remove the side vent itself and have only so far. I don’t want to break anything.

Got it so far out but now cannot get it back in!

And there is a white plastic brace on the tube which is supposed to locate and perhaps screw? onto the rear of the dash.

Any ideas guys?

The beauty is it will be much easier the second time around...

From memory i think to get it out fully you need to squeeze both sides or lever it out.
If you look you can see the locating lug hole on the inside of the vent.
I think the plastic bit is part of the vent mechanism so need to get it out fully before you can get it back in

Rhothgar, might I suggest you start a 'blog' thread for this Xantia, detailing what you have done, what you are doing, and what you need help on. One thread is easier to follow (and maintain) than several. This is why I ask for help in my thread "My turn for a C5!".

Of all the Xantia dashes I've had out to do heater matrixes I never once felt the need to disturb these side vents...

Why did you feel the need Roger?

James makes a good point... A blog would be really good to see in the Blogs area... The work you have done is always a good read and to have it all in one place would be great ;)

I've thought about this only the other day. Once I've sorted the live threads I'll certainly do a separate blog.

It was when I stripped it down to put the oscilloscope on the transponder and alarm.

I think I've gone beyond that Colin.

I can't even thump it back in and, believe me, I am trying hard! It just seems stuck.
