Anyway to bypass a reverse sensor

Unread post by EJAP »

Hello again.

So I reverse into a wall and crack the bumper and knock a sensor out. Oh the irony!

Can I somehow bypass this one sensor so the others work and I don't have a constant error and bleeping? Thinking some genius auto sparky might suggest some wiring fix I can do.

Thanks peeps..

Hi and I'm not even going to ask how you managed that with reversing sensors

But to answer your question no. The system works or it doesn't. If one of the sensors is out it throws a wobbly and disables the system for obvious reasons - so it doesn't give false information. The parking assistance ECU relies on feedback from all sensors to operate and you can't be selective, so it's all or nothing.

What you can do though is disable it from the switch on the centre console. You will have to do this each time you restart the vehicle though.

I can get another sensor but it's plug in the loom has snapped off. Do you have a part number for this?
Thanks.

Yes dim problem, I can get that for you shortly - PSA servers are currently offline for their database updates which they mostly do each night. I'll pop up the part for you shortly when they're back up.

Right, so unlike the front that have sensor supports, the rear sensors are all in one as per item (6) below:
X7 Rear Parking Sensors.PNG
Part: 1611735680 - To be painted £133.30 each inc. VAT

So check to see if it isn't the actual bumper plastic that has cracked....

and if it's the rear bumper, then that is part 7410FH and a mere £663.00 inc. VAT.

Thanks for getting this for me Marc Stuff to ponder. Do they have a part number for the plug that connects to the sensor?
Maybe time give the scrappies a call...

There are no separate parts - the rear sensors are a complete sealed unit that plug into the wiring loom.
