ZX thingy next to the handbrake

Post by teabag »

Hi,
a bit of a dumb question. When I adjusted my handbrake recently I took off the cover. There was a white box bolted to the bracker with a large connector on it and several wires in a loom going towards the back of the car.
Just curious, but what is it.

Most likely to be the central locking unit.

The C/L control unit ?
(not the remote reciever)
- used to reside exactly in that location on BX series 2.

I think its the collision sensor for the air bag system.

Isn't it something to do with the seatbelt pre-tensioners?

Thanks for the replies. It must be the central locking as I don't have anything fancy like airbags or seatbelt tensioners.

Definitely is the central locking controller - if you take the cover off you can see the relays operate as you lock / unlock.

If it's the same as mine, It's the seat belt pre-tensioner!!! Don't mess with it!
