They rarely knock now, but leave the package and take a photo of it next to your door for evidence. This is how our Hermes deliveries have been for the last 5 months or so now. No signing during the Kung Flu
Same here. Despite all the stories of Hermes and their brethren being inept and incompetent, I don't have a single complaint about them.
I think like all of these various courier companies it is 90% down to the delivery driver.
Our previous Hermes delivery driver was a miserable sod and the service reflected his attitude. He didn't last long as where possible we use DPD - BUT, the last 2 DPD drivers were excellent and friendly, taking good care of your packages - then they changed driver. On the first delivery he saw me on the lawn, shouted out DPD? I said yes, and he opened the van door, picked up the parcel threw it 4 feet across the road waved and legged it!
The parcel was some Port Meirion tableware and I thought that had probably been smashed to bits - but luckily not! Got on the phone and told the depot I never want to see that bloke here again - suffice it to say we never have.
The new Hermes person comes complete with his mask on says nothing - just motions and takes a picture and stands well back - I think he doesn't speak a word of English though, as I asked him a question once and he just looked puzzled, smiled and disappeared...
