2010 C5 (x7) 2.0 HDI - P0093 fault

Unread post by mark6535 »

Hi, I'm new to the forum and hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Broke down 2 weeks ago with x1 injector clamp broken.
New copper washers, guide seals, return pipe clamps and bolts fitted (injectors tested too).
Manifold removed and cleaned as blow by had gummed it all up.

Then had turbo and egr problems due to one of the little vaccum pipes comming off the back of the manifold, sorted that and now I have the fault code:

P0093 and goes into limp mode.
Checked everything over and couldn't find any problems, replaced fuel filter too.
It will drive like brand new until Im in 4th/5th/6th and put the engine under load flat footed.

VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

(i am in the process of buying lexia clone but at the minute I'm using a cheap Chinese OBD scanner.)

Thanks

Hi and welcome.

P0093 as it relates to the DW10CTED4 engine:

As you can see there can be a few causes of this - so have a read through and a good start would be to focus on the areas for which you have just made repairs.

Fault code P0093: Incoherence on the fuel pressure with the flow regulator jammed open.
Fault Description: Excessive under-capacity of the injection system to provide the pressure for the flow in progress. Decalibration of the torque necessary, in order to keep the pressure above 145 Nm for 2s.
Conditions for the fault: Engine hot, running between 1750 and 4500 rpm with strong injected flow

Conditions of disappearance of the fault: Driving with hot engine for 5 minutes with several stabilised full-load periods for 3 secs
Down-grade modes when fault present: Request for Delayed Engine Stop; Deactivation of the strategy for monitoring the current of the fuel flow regulation valve; Deactivation of the kick-down for automatic gearboxes; Limitation of performance; Reversible deactivation of the vehicle cruise control.
Warning lamp and/or warning message: Warning lamp MIL
Symptoms: Engine hesitating, cutting out; Lack of power; Starting problem; Diesel fuel consumption a bit higher; Fluid leak/Smells; Noise; Engine acceleration at wrong time; Smoke from the exhaust; Engine overheating with illumination of the engine coolant temperature indicator light.
Suspect Areas: Fuel; Diesel fuel filter; Low pressure fuel circuit; Fuel flow regulation valve; high pressure fuel pump; Fuel high pressure sensor; High-pressure fuel pipe; Fuel high pressure common injection rail; Fuel injectors; Camshafts; Electrical harness.

Do you know the part number for an injector at all and if they need to be coded?
I can already tell by the noise that's developed that an injector is missing above 3000rpm.
Thanks

Yes the injectors will need coding. I can provide you with live Citroen OEM and exchange part number data, but we are charged for this by PSA, so ask members for a small donation of £10 min. for parts data and parts diagrams - but this will cover you for future requests for up to 2 years. If you want to go ahead, see the links below:
