Re: citroen c4 grand picasso
Steve, please post up your VIN (automatically masked on submission) so I can see the exact model you have.
Also, when you say 'P' is flashing - is this an illuminated warning lamp as in a P inside a yellow triangle, or P inside a red Circle, or a P inside a yellow circle - or none of the above - and if so where is the P flashing up and on what display?
If you are getting non-activation or random deactivation of the cruise and / or speed limiter functions, with a warning lamp, then this is likely to require a replacement intermediate brake switch harness and brake switch. Originals were known to cause problems, so the manufacturing process was changed later - as you have an early model, it's quite possible this may be the cause.

Re: citroen c4 grand picasso
Hi Marc the P is lit green its the p for the park distance there is no red or yellow at all around the P . Normally I would push the P button on the steering wheel for park distance by 2 parked cars to enable it but if I push the -button on the cruise contol is lights up green instead of the P button. Its like there's a short but I don't think so some how . ill post vin for you tomorrow marc if thats OK love to sort this fault out the ECU can not find any fault with the cruise control/limiter the break switch sounds interesting tho I'm guessing its connected to the pedal arm . I thought maybe a problem with the cruise control module but yes very puzzling the cruise does work to set it i have to press down - button . + does not work at all so to set the speed i want i have to... example set at 70mph press down - done + dont work bug limiter stuck at 18mph - button does nothing or + nothing on limiter ... thanks again steve

Re: citroen c4 grand picasso
Ok, so that's your parking space gap measurement.
At this point it will really need Lexia on it - because the parking gap measurement button should have nothing to do with the cruise or speed limiter - the only thing they have in common is the proximity to the steering wheel switches for the cruise and speed limiter....
Given that your '+' is not functioning, only the '-' and the fact that when you do use the '-' switch it is directly opposite the <P> , it it also trying to activate the parking gap measurement and that is then throwing a wobbly because the conditions are not met for that operation (indicator not on, speed too high etc.), so the 'P' is just telling you the parking gap measurement is not measuring.
So because of that last bit of info regarding the 'P', I am more likely to be leaning towards the steering wheel controls as being worn out / dirty / broken as pressing the minus is also trying to activate Parking Gap Measurement.
Lexia may show you the same info if you undertake some actuation switch tests - it should show you if and what each button press is registering - or not. So be prepared to replace the module at this stage.
With these models, you have the Steering wheel switch module and on the steering wheel itself, the VMF module - which is the one that houses all the buttons.

Hi marc ... the steering switch i haven't pulled this off yet do you no if and how this comes off. Does the air bag meed to cone away to get to the switch, the module is the switch ? or the moduel is inside the steering wheel ? nothing ever straight forward on citroen the + dont work at all the - button only works on cruise not limiter strange as if - works on cruise why not work on lim just don't get it but still no faults have been recorded in the ecu as a fault ill send my vin later this morning just got to work . Thanks again for your info , Steve

Re: citroen c4 grand picasso
Ok, so you have like a 'collar' at the rear which houses the indicator and lighting stalks. this is the switch module.
Next you have seated on the steering wheel the VMF module with the cruise switches etc.
Then you have the Airbag boss that goes in the middle.
The Switch Module is shown below
I suspect the VMF part is plugged into the rear Switch module through some connectors. Beware though, as removing the fixed steering wheel controls requires a special tool to lock the steering wheel before removing the module.
Now I can't say which part is faulty, but I can only assume that the buttons are probably the primary suspect on the VMF module as it is these that are sending none, partial or mixed signals.

Re: citroen c4 grand picasso
No not the Steering Control module with the lighting and wash stalks Steve. I'm talking here about the Fixed Steering Wheel Controls (VMF unit) that needs a special tool. This is the guide so may explain it. Note that this does not cover removing the separate Steering Wheel Control Module.
Tooling
Perform the following operations:
Wait at least 2 minutes after disconnecting the battery before removing the Airbag
Continued: Removing Fixed Steering Wheel Controls
Removing
Refitting
Refit:
Remove the tool [1].
Coat the bolt (4) with threadlock LOCTITE.
Refit:
Refit the lower steering column cowling ( 3).
Recouple the upper ( 2) and lower (3) steering column cowlings.
Refit the bottom left hand panel (1).
Reconnect the battery following the reconnection part of the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure
Check that the electrical equipment operates correctly.
