C4 Picasso 2011 e-hdi 1.6. Will I ever win?

You all must be fed up with me posting about the woes on this car. Well, it is one woe really.

A very very occasional very very slight misfire led me into a minefield of diagnostics showing 4 injectors needing to be replaced. After I'd had the car 6 months (during lockdown) I found the battery flat. Disconnected it completely and waited for new battery. 3 or 4 days later fitted new battery.

Problem had vanished! No more 'faulty motor - garage' message and SERVICE light.

Fine for 5 weeks or so then prob. came back, but this time with limp mode and auto box only working with paddles.
I've always thought the diagnostics' (2 of them) results to be strange and have resisted taking the car in for repair, because I know they will just repeat the diagnosis and give me an estimate of about €2000. Totally out-of-the-question.

Now I found a youtube video of a DS3 1.6Hdi with pretty well the same symptoms as my car. The layout looks to be exactly the same as my car. The guy finds, when he reveals the injectors, that a wire has been chafed - he remakes the (dodgy) connection et voila!
I've taken off the 'first' (dead easy) cover, removed the two 'posts' but I cannot then take off the main cover. It is very awkward.

I got to 2min30sec but I cannot then get that big cover out. By 3min he has the offending article completely free and that's what I'm trying to do.

Can anyone help me, please? Of course I don't want to do something that can't be reversed and I am afraid of doing that if I make a wrong move.

I recently changed an injector on our 2015 308 with the 120hp 1.6 Blue HDi engine and had to go through much of what he did. At 2' 30' he sort of shakes the air filter housing to divest it of the intake hose.

I didn't do it quite like that. Now, bear in mind that your car may be different to mine (and his) but the principle is surely the same.

First the two screws at the front (13mm deep socket). I then took the air intake trunk off - two screws onto the front panel and then a slight twist to allow the trunking off the housing. Then I took the hose from the filter housing to the turbo off - this is sort of squeezed up at one end and then when that pops off you can persuade the other end off.

Then it was pretty much as he did. Take the electrical connector off and then there's a semi-rigid small air hose connector to undo. Take care as it's easy to snap the plastic spigot off - there's a thread here about that. There may be another slightly larger (but not as large as the trunking) hose as well. Then I moved the housing backwards to disengage it from two hidden dowels lower down and manoeuvre the housing out.

I think I might have also removed the top of the air filter housing and filter just to get some extra room. I can't remember for sure but it won't do any harm to do that.

That was basically it. I'm a bit vague because it was, to me, just a matter of working my way through.

So just to confirm there's nothing of note in removing it that I have - it would seem they think it simple to do and unnecessary to explain further!

Just to conclude this. I've p/ex the f*****g car, with my C3 Picasso (4 years from new, only 20 000miles) for a new C4 Cactus. In France there are three Cactus models and this is the middle one. Could get nowhere with the C4 - tried everything bar setting fire to it. Financially crippling piece of junk.

Hi Roger. Well I think you will be better off without it - if not these later engines, it's the electronics on these things that are crippling and I'd never have one of these as I've just seen so many issues with them.

I've only driven the C4 Cactus for a few weeks on and off and it was ok and practical - with the one exception of the Multifunction Display that has to be used for operation of a lot of the controls like the climate settings, audio, Nav and to turn all the other settings on or off - so about as useful as taking a crash course in braille to operate.

I found myself constantly stopping to change the screen to the right one to adjust the heating controls - a total faff. I guess you'll be ok with it after taking one of those expensive memory improvement courses to remember which screens are which though, so best of luck
