Coolant bleeding points and procedure DW10 2010

Post by gustav »

Hello!
I am new to this forum and English is not my mother tongue so bare with my poor english. I drive a Citroen C5 2010 2.0 hdi 140hp.

I'm about to replace my thermostat housing but are unable to find good info how to bleed the cooling system properly. How many bleeding point are there and what is the proper procedure? I've located one bleeding screw on the thermostat housing.

Hi and welcome.

Have a look at my post here, it details the procedure for this engine and is illustrated, so should have all you need:

At the end of the guide, there is another link that takes you to the Bleeding Procedure, that is important to follow.

Thank you so much! That will be really helpful.

One more question: I have two temp sensor to chose from and and I get slightly different test readings when testing them with a multi meter. In about 25 degrees one sender reads 3500 ohms and the other 4500 ohms. What should the correct ohm be in about 20 degrees?

Ignore my last question. A new sender came with the new housing.

However, I can still only find one bleeding point, the one on on the thermostat housing. The second bleeding screw should be on the heater hose close to the bulkhead but I cant find it. Is it located elsewhere?

The bleed screw is shown in blue below and I have marked this with the green arrow in the bottom picture - but the outlet tank may well be reversed from the picture.

Im trying to upload your picture in my reply. Don't know if it will work :)

According to your excellent guide (Draining, Filling & Degassing) on the x7 there should be 2 bleed screws. I have found screw Nr 3 on the thermostat housing but are unable to find bleeding screw Nr 1 on the heating hose. Is it possible that my car have only one bleeding screw?

Bleed screw number 1 is right over the back of the engine. If you can wait until later today, I'll put up a picture of it from my car.

Ok! So its located on the heating hose only closer to the engine and not the fire wall.

A pic would be super. No rush.

Thank you!

Hello again!

The link stopped working for some reason. Is it possible to reactivate it?
