One of those quite interesting ideas that may be handy but for temp repairs chocolate block and tape is far more versatile and probably a lot cheaper!! Then when you get home a proper solder joint with traditional heatshrink is clearly a better permanent repair. 
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
