Update

Unread post by Steveo »

Hi
As some of you will know from previous posts I have just retro fitted a sat nav system (myway) to my 2009 C5

I am having trouble with the microphone! I have fitted two used ones and unfortunately non seem to work.
I have read several posts that possibly point to the mobile phones compatability, I would appreciate any assistance on this matter
Please see photograph of firmware

How do I update the firmware?
Thank you in anticipation
Regards
Steve

Did you install the wiring for the microphone yourself or use the preinstalled wiring?

I installed a sat Nav in my C5 and although I already had the microphone wiring preinstalled, it didn’t actually lead back to the headunit connector. I had to run my own microphone cable.

Hi
Thank you
The wiring is connected behind the light and I think the microphone wire is connected to the unit so there must be a connector somewhere else
How did you wire yours and did you use the original microphone
Thx

It's probably because you had a standard RD4 system originally, so no telematics and no hands free kit or emergency assistance kit - so your front fascia wiring harness was different (part: 6586 Q0). Other systems have different harnesses - so although the microphone is there, it probably doesn't have the connection into your particular wiring loom. Best thing you can do is manually wire the connection to the quadlock connector directly.

This thread here has my C5 car audio journey in it: viewtopic.php?t=58078

I think I've got some diagrams in there of which terminals on the back of the myway, I believe they are the same terminals used on the RD4 and RT4.

I did use an original Citroen microphone installed in the proper location but as you will find in that thread it was impossible to trace the other end of the preinstalled wiring so I had to do it myself.

Yes, there are so many wiring harnesses for these depending on kit - so although the mic is there, without the hands free kit fitted for the older RD4 systems, or the emergency services module (that takes the mic wiring), or the dedicated harness for the telematics system, it's probably not attached.

Hi Marc
Forgot to mention that if I press the end of the light stalk I get a voice message saying navigation is not active (or something similar)
Don't really know what that means on a Citroen not the message but the equipment fitted
On the 407 it meant I had voice control but as above don't know about the Citroen

Hi Steve. Ok - so on the X7 with a telematics system fitted, pressing on the end of the lighting stalk repeats the last navigation instruction.

If you have retrofitted this unit, you will have to VIN code the unit to your C5 and also alter some configuration parameters to get it to work. At present, I suspect your BSI still has the configuration for the RD4 system and therefore it is confused.

If you have a Lexia / Diagbox I can probably help you do this - let me know.

Ok, so you need to change the following: For items listed as 'Missing' on your screen shots (Heating Ventilation / Under Inflation Detection), see if you can change these to 'Absent'. Otherwise the BSI may be expecting them if previously configured for the donor vehicle in the Head Unit ECU - where they are not valid on your C5.
  • Parking Aid to Absent
  • Under Inflation Detection to Absent
  • Heating Ventilation to Absent
In your screenshots above, there are 2 pictures that show a list of options as all 'Deactivated' - these are correct and must not be changed. It does not mean that any applicable items are missing - it actually only means how the data is routed and how the displays of the data for these option (if present) are handled on the vehicle with a telematics system. They must be left as deactivated.

That's all the options correct for what you have shown me.

There are some BSI errors showing, so when you have coded the parameters I listed above, (select option, then green tick, then from following menu select appropriate option, then press cog wheel to code it), - re-run the global test and let me know all the fault codes shown (see if the BSI ones are still there) and if so, what they are - along with anything else.
