Turbo D oil cooler in a 205

Post by PC2CV »

Im putting an XUD Turbo D engine that originally came from a Citroen ZX into a Peugeot 205.

Looking to use an oil cooler, i see some factory 205 d turbos have an upright oil cooler for improved clearance.

Servicebox is not much help in showing me this upright oil cooler, any idea if it was fitted to other cars or why its not on servicebox?

The normal oil cooler with the filter coming straight out hits the radiator.

Yes that is the problem. The engine currently has that type of oil cooler fitted, but it is touching the radiator.

The upright cooler some 205 turbo diesels had looks like this

Just having some trouble finding a part number for the cooler on servicebox

There is a part (an aluminium casting) that turns everything through 90deg.
The machined smooth surface on these engine blocks will accept
- a horizontal oil filter screwed directly on
- a horizontal oil-water heat exchanger + oil filter (like the diag above)
- the casting I mention, which will support heat exchanger + filter.

All have identical smooth mating surfaces and M20 threading, and use the large square-section O-ring you find on oil filters.
Will try to find a part number for you tomorrow, unless night-shift gets there first.
