Xsara 1999 - AC fan not running

Hi!

My wife has a Citroen Xsara 1999, a car we're generally fond of. However, the AC fan no longer runs at any setting. It usually worked quite well, we could change the temperatures, fan speeds and air flow outputs.

The knobs on the dashboard light up, but no hot air comes out.

Meaning the car fogs up and remains quite cold in winter in central Norway!

Any suggestions here? Do I have to remove glove box, like on the picasso, to access the fan unit? Would it be productive to extract the fan, turn the car on, measure voltage on the fan connector? And then apply some specific voltage to the fan itself, and see if it runs..? What is the usual problem here?

Do you have ANY fan speed?
Can you change the air Distribution? (do you have automatic Digital A/C control panel?) Put your VIN up if you are not sure
If there is a small amount of air blowing out, does this change when you alter the air distribution?

Hi.

There is never any air flow. Since I cannot hear the fan moving, at any setting, I think the fan has stopped running. I'm looking at the thread you linked to now.

I'll check the ingnition mechanism for any wiggle, and then I might take a look and see if I can locate the actual fan unit.

On a RHD model you just need to remove the carpet type trim under the glove box then there is just 3 or 4 screw holding the motor in.
Not sure if a LHD model is at the same side.
