There are two types of limit to talk about in a Peugeot - one is just a 'bong' noise that is annoying, and the other is similar to cruise, but in reverse. Cruise holds a minimum speed, and the accelerator cn be used to go faster, limit constrains the max speed (until full throttle is used) and the driver can choose to drive slower. The noise one that just sounds if the car travels over a certain speed is pretty rubbish and very annoying...
The bong is the type I have encountered and, as you say, is rubbish.

That does seem strange to me. I use CC to maintain the speed when I go through limited areas. To me, it aids concentration as it allows one to stop having to stare at the speedo all the time.

But none of these systems will stop you exceeding any set speed going downhill without applying the brake yourself, unless you have an active braking system installed which is only available on recent models.
I must admit, I never use the speed limiter - I find it causes me stress if I forget it's been set and then there is no reaction to the accelerator when I need it - without flooring it - but by that time it's usually too late anyway. I think it's more of the 'panic' reaction to not having the power when you want it - so that is a feature I never use.

This is absolutely true, of course. You're obeying a higher law than mere man's paltry offerings - the Law of Gravity.

I've now scrabbled down on the floor and taken a couple of pictures. Seems the number is the same as the spare I have, so that's no help ! Connector s five pin, and looks like the bog standard PSA connector.
Seems like a swap to a 1601-V6 as an experiment may be in order ! I'll message Richard.
I have a Citroen C4 Picasso. On that the speed limiter will restrict the maximum speed whilst on the flat or uphill. However it will not limit speed downhill and if the set limit is exceeded by 2 or 3 mph, the system 'bongs'.
Ok, pedal replaced and limited is working as it should.
I have experimented a bit round town, and I like it. So nice to click the button and let the car just control the 30mph without having to look down. Let's see how my wife gets on with it.
