Please help! LDS piping

Post by rezonen »

Hey

Yesterday i traded my Volvo V70 for a -10 C5 tourer with the 2.0 140hp engine

It was working all fine, until today. I was gonna drive to the shop, and the car was heigthening itself in the front, all good. But when it came to the rear going up the right rear just bursted out LDS fluid!

I've now checked and it's the pipe to the most right hand side in the cars direction exactly over the gas tank, witch if i understood correctly is the supply piping that is broken...

How do i go about changing this? Any parts numbers? Any pictures with steps?

I leave home at 5am with a 1 hour drive to work, kids start their first day at daycare tomorrow. And we recently moved so we don't know anyone for 300km....

Thanks, Marcus.

Here's the parts diagram:

And the prices (in GBP), neither particularly cheap!!

I don't know what sort of flare Citroen use on these pipes, if you get it off, then you might be able to get someone to make up a pipe if it is a 'std' flare.

As to replacing it, if it is over the tank, then I fear the tank will have to come out.... The long pipe 1 will be a mare to replace without a 4 post lift I imagine.

It will depend on whether this is the Supply or Return Piping...

Here are both diagrams:

If it was going up, and it poured out, the odds on it's the supply pipe. There's no procedure, but the book time for item 1 appears to be over 6 hours.....

Thanks guys, seems lika a pain...

Managed to get it so i can work the night shift tomorrow atleast...

How do i go about removing the gas tank? remove rear seats, detatch pump and hoses, then what?

Is there any way to leak test it before pouring in new oil in it and testing? Since it probably will pour it all out again if it's still leaking.... Expensive oil :/

Also, where do you guys get theese pictures and prices? Any place i can look it up?

You can register for service box. You have to claim you're an independent trader but with your VIN you can access part numbers exploded diagrams etc. It's free to register free to look up a lot of stuff. You could buy a Haynes book of implausible methods but treat it like you would the national enquirer

Im stumped there mate I just do whatever needs to be done in my own time. The times they give are likely to be for a fully equipped workshop with all needed tools lift etc available. So really the "official" repair time could be pretty meaningless when your lying on your driveway car up on axle stands and dirt falling into your eyes

Okay, is there any other recommended repair manual?

I saw haynes is only up to -08. Mine is a -10. I know i's not gonna help me with this problem but for future stuff.

Unless youre quite good with spanners and have the tools I'd recommenced you find an indie garage close to you. If the official repair time is 6 hours you'd probably have to double it. I'm sure the 08 Haynes book is as good as the non existent 10 one. Maybe a member can help you out or suggest someone near to you.

There are no haynes for a MK III - they never did one - for future ref. and yes all repair documentation is chargeable... However there is not repair procedure for the pipe - as it's just a matter of replacing it.

But as Richard says getting it off is going to be a job and really needs to be done on a 4 post lift so you can see the routing.
