C4 Picasso - engine bay shock absorbers
Hi,
I've found a guy on a Russian website that details changing the bushes on the 2 engine bay support beam shock absorbers (I don't know their actual name). Google translate isn't too good translating the guy's installation instructions.
My passenger side one rattles - I can reach down into the engine bay and rattle it with my hand.
The driver side seems to still be quite solid.
So I was going to replace the passenger side end bushing part.
The number of the left silent block is 16 108 281 80 .
The number of the right silent block is 16 108 282 80 .
Would you be able to show me the service manual image showing the parts and bolts etc - then I can work out how to remove it?
The beam is secured at the front end of the vehicle with M10 and M13 bolts, but I want to figure out their location and plan it before I actually start the job.
My VIN is: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Thanks

Exactly what I needed - Thanks RichardW
Thanks Marc, but as Richard said, you'd got the wrong mounting brackets.
Thanks both!

I was sitting outside the fitting rooms waiting..... on the only chair in the store it seems, so a quick phone response to kill some time.

Re: C4 Picasso - engine bay shock absorbers
Please could somebody check the part numbers of 16 & 17 on the diagram RichardW added?
For my VIN number.
I've tried to order these parts, but the place I tried to order from said they don't come separately and I need to order the full extension arm - which I think may be incorrect.
They say they can't trace the part numbers for these 2 parts, only the whole extension arm part.
Thanks

Re: C4 Picasso - engine bay shock absorbers
Thanks.
That's exactly what I thought and the same part numbers I already had.
I've managed to order them for another place without any issues.

Re: C4 Picasso - engine bay shock absorbers
After nearly 2 years of searching, checking and replacing parts this is what turned out to be the dreaded knocking sounds coming from the front end that sound just like shocker tops or anti roll bar bushes worn.
I have seen so many people with exactly the same problem.
This is a true Halleljah moment.
Cheers Peeps.

Re: C4 Picasso - engine bay shock absorbers
No need to remove the bumper
You can jack the car up on the side you you want to replace (jack up near front wheel as you would normally).
You can remove and replace the support beam and bush from underneath.
Here is a link to the original website I had found showing you how.
It's a Russian website, so you'll need to translate the page (Google auto translates it if you use Chrome).
