berlingo p2562 error code

Post by wayne10 »

got a berlingo van last year and not had any issues until this week, single beep and engine fault p2562 on a cheap obd reader. looking around the web and lots of different ideas as too the reason but most seem to point to the turbo boost position control sensor, is this the true reason? dont mind taking it to a garage but only a trustworthy one, not keen on main dealers, van is 2013 with 67k vin no is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Thanks wayne.

Ok, so you have the DV6ETED4 engine with Bosch EDC17C10 Engine ECU.

The fault as it relates to your vehicle is:

Fault: Turbocharger: Position incorrect relative to requirement, not enough turbo. The position measured is greater than the reference by more than 20 % for 4 seconds.

Fault Triggering: Engine Running, Engine speed between 1500 and 4000 RPM
Fault Disappearance: Driving for 5 minutes.
Symptoms:
  • Noise
  • Smoke from the Exhaust
  • Lack of Power
  • Loss of Braking
Suspect Areas:
  • Turbocharger
  • Turbocharger fixed geometry control electrovalve
  • Turbocharger fixed geometry position repeat sensor
  • EGR exchanger with bypass
  • EGR exchanger bypass control solenoid valve
  • Vacuum pump
  • Electrical harnesses
I've just dealt with a similar issue albeit a slightly different fault code on a 1.6 DV engine on Peugeot 407 and it was lack of vacuum on the Turbo solenoid Electrovalve. The dealer wanted to replace the turbo, but after swapping the Turbo solenoid with the EGR one to test it, there was a massive improvement (albeit another fault from the EGR system - as was expected. So he swapped it back and ordered another turbo solenoid and problem solved. Power back up and no issues or warnings. Might be worth a pop.

got the solenoid off the van unplugged the 3 hoses but could not find a way to disconnect the electrical bit (special tool/way) didnt want to force it or break it. anyway replaced it and checked the obd, still reading p2562, started the engine, no beep or warning-happy days, no code now on obd, will prob reoccur but on the right track i hope. now for a part number or is it main dealer only?

Yes, it's part number: 9811643880 and is shown as item (1) on the diagram below.
Berlingo Electrovalve.PNG
It is priced £42.77 inc. VAT from Citroen using the part number above, but you may be able to source one on the aftermarket - but if it's too cheap don't bother as the quality might not be up to much.

This is a suggestion only - as you can see from the suspect areas that there are a few possibilities. If you have a friendly mechanic, then they may be able to test the electrovalve for sufficient vacuum. As with all troubleshooting there is rarely a definitive 'it's this or that' - only a pointer as to the possible culprit. But given that a turbo is a few quid short of £1000 it;s worth exploring the cheaper fixes first.

There's usually a clip that you need to lift with a flat head screwdriver gently - but glad that seems to of sorted it.

It may take a while for the engine management ECU to adjust once the electrovalve has bee replaced - so just go for a spin and if successful it should clear the code.

code cleared soon as i started the engine, part no is on the sensor itself, while it was dangling i could see it. googling 9801887686 brought up a number of them. thanks again Marc.

The part number is the one I listed earlier, so maybe this has been changed before for an incorrect one, so stick to the part number I supplied you as that is the official part number according to your VIN. They all have different specifications.

Hello, I would like to kindly ask for an advice through this post as im experiencing similar syptoms you described above: noise, loss of braking and mainly power. Its on 2011 Peugeot Tepee VIN VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. Id like to know if I found it correctly that it is an DV6ETED4 as above. I have suspicion, that there is mounted wrong turbo solenoid which is causing those symptoms its part no. 9674164580. It was impossible for me to find if this solenoid should be mounted on the car. Id like to fit proper solenoid on the car, as you said, there must be differences in vacuum distributions in various solenoids and there is plenty of them. Maybe it will be part no as you wrote above 9811643880. There is small hidden screw on the solenoid, I tried to adjust it a bit and match it with live data in fap app but it doesnt seem right. Thanks in advance. Mik
