Hello. Fred starts fine except she rattles madly. Sounds like a loose exhaust, it’s very loud. Once started it’s quiet. With a warm engine the rattle at startup is not as bad but is still there. The exhaust is secure.
I’m wondering if an engine mount would cause this?
Ta.

30?C here, more than plenty.
Had to take a bus to get the car and it must have been 40?C onboard. Still recovering.

If a hammering (rather than a rattle), check that the oil filter is the correct type, with a non-return rubber diaphragm below the holes on the filter base. This non-return 'flap' valve ensures that oil does not drain out of the filter when parked up, causing temporary oil starvation for a few seconds when the engine is restarted. Some cheap filters are not equipped with the device.
