Citroen C15 1.9 2003. Brake bleed nipple

Unread post by gridg »

Hello!
I just bled all my brakes and on tightening the last bleed nipple it sheared straight off.
Does anyone know what the part number is or what kind of bleed nipple a C15 2003 1.9. takes?

Many thanks

Unless you are very lucky, you won't get the remains out so you might as well get a caliper & have done with it.

If the brakes were bled before it snapped you're probably ok for a while. Don't overtighten the bleed nipples it's enough to just sweeten them slightly after they are screwed in fully.

When I had to loosen off the bleed nipples I would fully undo them and then (carefully!) smear a little copper slip grease onto the threads. I made sure it was JUST on the threads, so it did not contaminate the LHM fluid.

My mechanic recommended ceramic grease, I been using red grease on brakes for a while it's supposed to not damage seals and won't react with brake fluid.

Hadn't occurred to me it might've sheared tightening it; in my experience it's usually breathing on them prior to trying to locate a spanner on what's left of the flats. For that reason I avoid bleeding brakes (clutch slaves never seem to be such a problem) if at all poss.

If I have to AND am lucky enough to free off a nipple (& on assembly of new components) I've also applied a smidgeon of copperslip.

"Ceramic grease"? Really, well that's a new one on me!

Thanks, but I only professed to total ignorance of the product - but then did do a little research to cure that. Never did look at availability though - &, looking at the price, think I'll stick to copper (or ally for stainless). I'll keep an eye out at autojumbles though.
