Hi
My driver's seat - lhd - is not in a good shape (what an understatement...). the upholstery cloth is in quite a good condition. the problem is with the foam padding under it. it's distorted and lost it's shape. I was surprised that someone told me that the foam can be bought from Citroen dealership because it's a spare part (at least to the Berlingo that he owns). since it's a holiday today and tomorrow here in Israel and than the weekend kicks in, so there isn't an open dealership until Sunday, I would like to ask if any of the forum members had heard about it.

Yes, aware of it - but no longer available from Citroen new for your model Avi:
Only the whole cushion was available - item 1 below - but no longer supplied new.
Part 8863H4 for the Left
8863H5 for the Right.

Thanx again Marc. I'll have to look for a "upholstery specialist" that will be able to fix it. btw- the towing bar is long installed and authorized, including the electrical bypass.

Good news at least on that front!
As for the cushion, it is a complete unit - so you can maybe look for one of a used car - the part number is the right one for your colour upholstery trim.

I wonder if the left and right cushions are interchangeable? If they are, and you can find a scrapped car with the right seat colours, the passenger cushion should be in a better condition, as it wouldn't have been used so much.

No, they are different for left and right hand sides on the X7, unlike MK I and II C5s.

Re: Does seat foam padding exists as spare part - C5 x7
I think that the easiest way is to remove the whole seat from the vehicle and to take it to a repair shop. I guess that it's fixed to the floor by 4 screws in the railings, but my concern is with the yellow connector, which I assume, contain the control of the airbag located in the back left hand side of the seat (at least that is where the "airbag" label attached to it) and to the weight sensor in the bottom of the seat. so, what I would like to ask, if there is a procedure to disconnect it without causing the airbag to blow in my face? please be aware that all I've written are my assumption and it can be wrong, in that case, please correct me.

Those will be the seat belt pre-tensioner and seat airbag wiring Avi. You'll need to wait several minutes after opening the vehicle before disconnecting - but ideally the battery should be disconnected.
Procedure for 'Manual Seats'
Refitting
Procedure for 'Manual Seats'
- Perform the following operations :
- Switch off the ignition
- Wait 3 minutes before disconnecting the battery
- Disconnect the ancillaries battery (Follow my disconnection Procedure here):

N.B.: Tilt the front seat (1) rearwards (To make access to the connector easier).
|
- Proceed in the reverse order to removal.
- Apply thread lock to the bolts (2), (3).
- Tighten the bolts (2), (3) to 2,75 m.daN .
- Reconnect the ancillaries battery.
- Check that the electrical equipment is working correctly.

Thanx Marc. the procedure you've described is very comprehensive. what you're referring to as the "pre tensioner", is the device/ unit that senses when the seat is occupied and if the seat belt is unfastened produces the annoying sound and the warning?

The pre-tensioner is the device that tightens the safety belt if an accident occurs.

Re: Does seat foam padding exists as spare part - C5 x7
Basically there are pyrotechnics in the seat belt units in which the belt fasteners click into. In a severe enough impact, the pre-tensioners fire, causing any slack in the seatbelt to be rapidly drawn back, effectively pulling the passenger back into the seat. This basically greatly reduces whiplash injuries as it helps prevent the body being momentarily thrown forward and backwards that causes the strain on the neck and head ('Whiplash' effect).
They are also fitted to the rear seatbelts too, so be aware.

Re: Does seat foam padding exists as spare part - C5 x7
HI Avi, One of my 'Planned' Jobs this year is to replace the foam on the outer wing of the drivers seat, it has been crushed by a driver sliding in and out of the car. Anyway, unlike you the weather plays a part in my activities, dodging the rain etc......anyways I think I have worked out how to do it but have NOT proven my idea,....our problem is the seat foam is bonded to the seat material.
As I said I have NOT tried this out yet but when I do I may add it to Youtube, not completely decided.....
- Remove seat base,
- Remove as much foam as possible using a knife to start with, then a small grinder to get as close as possible to the external seat covering.
- Then cut a piece of foam to the same shape, a rasp file should help, as the hole you have made +6mm (ish),
- using contact adhesive stick the new piece of foam into the seat base.
As I said I have NOT tried this out yet but when I do I may add it to Youtube, not completely decided.....

That's amazing. I wonder how long the fix lasts for though.
