The VIN is on the outside windscreen, lower corner passenger side, beginning VF. Or post your Reg in a private message. The VIN is masked when submitted here automatically, but don’t send the VIN in PM or I can’t see it.

I need the VIN or the REG to ensure we get the exact part for your car.

Here you go:

The official Tailgate part is 8701W5.

Obviously there are various parts available separately, but if you are replacing the whole thing that is the part for item (1) on the diagram.

Unlikely you need to replace the entire tailgate. What usually happens to these is that the tiny plastic pins break off the handle and it no longer operates the micro switch to activate the release mech. The switch is available separately for about £30 - although there are 2 types of microswitch fitted - the handle comes with one, and if you have the other type then you have to buy that as well  .

You can change over the microswitch if it's not broken (another common failure point) - this is what I did on mine.

Edit: Actually the lock is now £48.26 from Citroen, but there are loads on e-bay cheaper than this.

Hi, I've had an issue with my tailgate but bought the square micro switch instead of the round. Is it possible to use this or do I need to buy the round one?

IIRC the connector is a different shape between the two switches, but it's only a simple contactor, so if you've got the wrong one you will either need to buy the right one, or butcher the wiring to connect it. The switch is not that expensive (in absolute terms, it is for what it is!) so it might be better just to get the right one.

Hi. Is the difference between needing the round ended switch and the square type just whether your car has an opening window or a sealed one?
My car has an opening one so I think I need the square type.

Could you confirm if this is true please?

Many thanks.
