Just found out today ......................

Post by KennyW »

Hi All,

Tried to order g33 coolant from Citroen today to be told it has been discontinued.

After some research a few months back G30 is very similar to G33 but if I remember correctly they cannot be mixed.

Does anyone know an alternative source for G33 ?

Are you looking to do a top-up, or a complete coolant change ?
IIRC, Comma G30 is a (more or less) straight drop-in replacement, but there are plenty of others that'd do. https://www.commaoil.com/passenger-vehi ... s/view/351
Any of the major fluid manufacturer's such as Total, Mobil, Castrol should provide guidance as to what is suitable in your car on their respective lubricant search / advisor pages such as....

While lots may be suitable, just be careful not to mix types, even by topping up.
If in doubt, drain the whole system thoroughly and replace.

Thanks for the replies,

I'm going to check out Peugeot dealers to see what they have.

Even BASF, the makers of Glysantin, say that G30 is the right antifreeze for Citroens....

Further to the above....
Although BASF say Glysantin products can be mixed, they don't recommend it.

This is an extract from the spec for G33:

which must be diluted with water before use.
Glysantin G33 contains a salt-based inhibitor package
organic acids (OAT coolant).
Glysantin G33 is nitrite, amine, phosphate, borate and silicate free.
Properties
Glysantin G33 provides excellent protection against corrosion,
Overheating and frost. It effectively prevents corrosion and
Deposits in the cooling system with its important components such as
Cooling channels in the cylinder head, engine block, radiator, water pump and
Heating heat exchanger.
Glysantin G33 is officially from PSA (Peugeot / Citroën)
approved according to standard PSA B71 5110.
Glysantin G33 also meets the following standards:
AS 2108-2004, ASTM D 3306, ASTM D 4985, SAE J1034, AFNOR
NF R 15-601, ÖNORM V 5123, CUNA NC 956-16, JIS K 2234: 2006,
SANS 1251: 2005, SH 0521-1999 and BS 6580: 2010.
Glysantin G33 is generally available in green.

Sounds suspiciously like the Citroen Antigel I have been using.

The other coolant Citroen recommend / specify is Revkogel 2000.... which appears to be as equally discontinued as the G33

Hi all,

The coolant in my Peugeot 3008 (Model 2013) is now between the max and min and will need to top it up to be close to max.

I understand that the current coolant used in the car is G33 (Blue color), but this seems to be discontinued. I see that G30 is also compatible with Peugeot cars and would like to know if it's ok to top up G33 with G30 even though both have different colors (G30 appear to be pink)? Or do you recommend that I drain the current coolant and replace it with G30?

Also in the Peugeot manual , it says that the coolant doesn't need to be changed, only topped up. Is it the same with the G30 or it will need to be regularly drained and changed?

Thanks in advance.

I just found that many Ebay sellers from Germany still sell G33 coolant. Did any of you buy the G33 in ebay? I'm just worried that it might not be genuine.
