C5 2.0 hdi 55 reg. Pulls left on braking.
Me again
Weird one this.
Car pulls to the left when braking.
And to the right on accelerating
Not the callipers.
Mechanic says ball joints are fine. Changed o/s drop link because the near had changed.
Tyres are fine.
No wear.
Balanced 2 weeks ago.
Not had tracking looked at yet. But tyres are good.
Doesn't feel like tracking is out.
When I had it in the air yesterday checking power steering. I noticed a small amount of play in the strut. Like an amount of wobble.
My other guess is engine mount.
Cheers

Have you had the front brakes apart. Have seen many times where the front pads have been put in wrong. The pads have a notch which has to align with notch in piston for the handbrake mechanism.

Sounds like a suspension fault to me.

I was going to suggest a front caliper issue as they don't seem to last well on these cars but as it pulls the other way under load, I changed my mind.
Don't forget the rear can have a steering effect too.

What too look at. At the rear?

My tracking centre waive the (under £40) fee if they find there's nothing to adjust.

If you found this while the car was lifted that 'small amount of play' may be much more when under load, that's where I'd be looking before going on to anything else

If there’s is movement in suspension normally bottom ball joint. However I would still check brakes.

Why would the strut move / wobble slightly.
Anyone else had this. Searched here and googled. But no joy.

Check the strut mounts, see if there is any movement if somebody turns the wheel lock to lock at the top of the mount inside the engine bay where the suspension sphere connects to the strut top / mount.

The strut should be anchored by the mount at the top and the lower arm at the bottom. Which end has a wobble?

Going into the socket at the top.

If it's steering on acceleration and braking it suggests the bottom link bushes are worn and allowing the link to move back and forth.

That sounds like a problem, but I will let someone more familiar with C5 strut tops make a judgement.

Here's the parts for the sphere / strut Mount - can you be a bit more descriptive of the issue? 'B' is the strut mount - so is this loose or turning?
