Xantia S1 hydro leak what is it ???

Unread post by zs&tas »

I've just been under my 96 xantia to look at exhaust leaks and found there to be a hydraulic leak 😏 , there is a t piece small like 2mm 3mm on a bracket behind the steering system , the push on t piece has perished and is leaking quite nicely , I'd like to know what these hydro pipes are actually conected too , and doing ? I have ordered some t piece parts to fix it .

Exactly from where I don't know, but it is a low pressure return. Which is why it drips and doesn't squirt. Just changed exactly the same part for a friend. Did you buy a Citroen T piece as opposed to one from a garden centre because they need to be LHM friendly.

Could be part 12 on the diagram which is the 3 way union. Parts 7 and 9 are the oil return pipes.

It is part 527014 and still available from Citroen according to parts. The price is £9.13 inc. VAT

With age the rubber elbows, couplers and t-pieces deteriorate and split. The small (often 3.5mm) nylon and metal pipes and spigots they accept usually have an olive-like bulge to obtain a decent seal, and prevent movement. Replacements need to be 'rubbery' to do the job, which knocks out using those very cheap white plastic joiners on sale everywhere.

Some of these silly little bits are sometimes available from Citroen in a multi-pack (5 or 10), and can be a cheaper way to buy - unless you only need one every 15 years! #-o

I think that's the one that goes to the reservoir.

#9 is the return from the height corrector, #7 looks like the return from the hydraulic pressure (safety) switch, so I'm guessing that the third pipe will lead back to the hydraulic reservoir.

On Xantia, a good few of these small low-pressure return pipes join up before reaching the reservoir, becoming, I think, just three in number when they get there . . . so lots of joining up. Apart from the occasional rubber joint leak, they rarely give any trouble.

At nearly a tenner it's a bit steep, but considering the part you changing will probably have been fitted in the factory, the new one will outlive the car! Fit and forget.

Can you post or PM your VIN as there are about 20 variations of these depending on pump type and suspension setup etc, too many to post up without the VIN

Ok, so here are all the hydraulic supply and return pipes, including the Power Steering for your specific Xantia.

If you want to know what the specific pipes are, let me know the Diagram (A - F, followed by the part number on the diagram).

Hi, i fixed the leak , found an older ! T piece from the Firebird and made up with some long hose to go over the pipes coming into it , seems all good now !
Couldn't wait for parts as the misses got low on fluid and lost the power steering on thursday ,
I have downloaded the images for future reference thanks !
