I have a C5 and I can't figure out how to get the battery out from the car. The reason being that there is no normal bolt in the clamp, but there is a plastic clamp which has a square recess in it. I can turn this a little with my hands, but I can't figure out how to get it to release. Please help. I can post an image, but not sure how yet. Hpoefuly I did it. Ignore pink camera pic, as phone is knackered.

Re: C5 Battery Clamp - plastic, how to remove?
Hi and welcome.
It can get stiff because of the crud that accumulates in there - what you need to do is get some lubricant in and around the plastic mechanism, but if you have a socket set you will find the extension bar is perfect for getting into the square hole and turning it. Once loosened just lube it up and it will be far easier to undo next time.

I managed to get it off just before your post, with a combination of turning with hand, and using big chisel as a wedge - pushing between battery and clamp, and freeing that way.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It will be acid 'creep' that's making it stick, wash it off with hot water then grease it with Vaseline to keep the acid away.
